APEC Advances Indigenous Peoples’ Economic Priorities through Trade

In an effort to meet people where they are and respond to the call for including more diverse voices in policy discussions, the United States, chair of APEC 2023, hosted the first APEC Ministers’ Meeting Dialogue with Indigenous Peoples in San Francisco on 14 November.

“Our economies are more than just numbers and data sets,” said the United States Trade Representative Ambassador Katherine Tai as she opened the dialogue joined by her minister counterparts.

Secretary General wraps up meeting of Foreign Ministers: “Ukraine is closer to NATO than ever before” NATO Foreign Ministers concluded two days of meetings in Brussels on Wednesday (29 November 2023), addressing support for Ukraine, preparations for the Washington Summit and pressing security challenges, including in the Western Balkans and NATO’s southern neighbourhood. The NATO-Ukraine Council met at the level of Foreign Ministers for the first time, joined by Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba. Speaking after the meeting, Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg announced that Allies had approved an ambitious work programme for the next year, covering energy security, innovation and interoperability. He added: “we are now transforming NATO’s comprehensive assistance package into a multi-year programme of assistance, helping Ukraine to transition from Soviet-era to NATO equipment and standards and make their forces fully interoperable with ours”. He welcomed the extension of the pause in hostilities between Israel and Hamas, which has allowed much-needed relief to people in Gaza, the release of more hostages, and the delivery of more humanitarian aid. ● Συμβούλιο της ΕΕ   01/12/2023 09:52 | ΣΥΝΕΔΡΊΑΣΗ | Κύρια σημεία της ημερήσιας διάταξης - Συμβούλιο Δικαιοσύνης και Εσωτερικών Υποθέσεων, 4-5 Δεκεμβρίου 2023   Κατά τη σύνοδο των υπουργών Εσωτερικών, η Προεδρία θα παρουσιάσει έκθεση προόδου σχετικά με όλους τους νομοθετικούς φακέλους του Συμφώνου για το άσυλο και τη μετανάστευση. Οι υπουργοί θα ενημερωθούν επίσης για την πορεία των εργασιών όσον αφορά την εξωτερική διάσταση της μετανάστευσης. Στην ημερήσια διάταξη θα περιληφθεί επίσης ο αντίκτυπος της κρίσης στη Μέση Ανατολή καθώς και του επιθετικού πολέμου της Ρωσίας κατά της Ουκρανίας στην εσωτερική ασφάλεια της ΕΕ. Οι υπουργοί Δικαιοσύνης θα επιδιώξουν να καταλήξουν σε γενική προσέγγιση όσον αφορά κανονισμό σχετικά με τη διαβίβαση δικογραφιών και να εγκρίνουν τη στρατηγική για την ηλεκτρονική δικαιοσύνη για την περίοδο 2024-2028. The United States and Romania have been allies, partners, and friends for decades. That friendship is rooted in our shared values – democracy, freedom, and peaceful cooperation, as well as the deep historic ties of family and culture.

Romania’s leadership within the NATO Alliance strengthens our collective security, especially in the Black Sea region. Your support for Ukraine’s independence and the well-being of its people has been firm and unwavering. We are proud to work alongside you to ensure the Ukrainian military has the training and equipment it needs to repel Russia’s war of aggression, to provide humanitarian aid and support for refugees, and to build pathways for Ukrainian grain to reach a hungry world.

The future of cooperation between our nations grows ever brighter. For too long, armed groups and malign actors have hindered the Central African Republic’s great potential, undercut the people’s independence, and exploited the country’s vast natural resources for the profit of the few over the wellbeing of the many.
