Norway to support Ukrainian defence industry directly

Norway will support the production of military equipment within Ukraine. ‘This is crucial to ensure weapons and ammunition reach Ukrainian soldiers as quickly as possible,’ said Norwegian Defence Minister Bjørn Arild Gram. On Friday, he signed an agreement with his Ukrainian counterpart, Rustem Umerov, to enhance cooperation on military supplies.

Call for proposals for the first renewable energy guarantees

The Norwegian Government has established a new state guarantee scheme for renewable energy projects in developing countries, and on 15 November Norad will issue a call for proposals for the first renewable energy guarantees. The Government's guarantee scheme has an overall financial framework of NOK 5 billion, and NOK 1.75 billion of this is being made available to companies and guarantee institutions under the call.

Minister Emilie Mehl extends temporary arming of police and internal border controls

Norway’s Minister of Justice and Public Security, Ms Emilie Mehl, has today decided to extend temporary arming of the police for three months and to extend internal border controls until 1 December 2024. The police have been armed since 8 October 2024, when the Norwegian Police Security Service (PST) raised the terror threat level from moderate (level 3) to high (level 4), mainly because the threat to Jewish and Israeli targets had increased. Two days later, internal border controls were introduced.

High-powered support for renewable energy projects

The government has today presented the report on Long-term Perspectives on the Norwegian Economy 2024, which discusses the main challenges for the Norwegian economy towards 2060. In this report, the government has set a goal to increase the share of employed individuals in the age group 20-64 from 80.5 per cent in 2023 to 82 per cent in 2030, with a further increase to 83 per cent by 2035.
