Επιμόρφωση των οδηγών απορριμματοφόρων

του Δήμου Κ. Κέρκυρας μέσω του έργου “E-HORECA WANET”

 

Στο πλαίσιο του διασυνοριακού έργου «E-HORECA WANET» (Interreg IPA II μεταξύ Ελλάδας – Αλβανίας) το οποίο έχει στόχο τη δημιουργία ενός καινοτόμου και αποτελεσματικού δικτύου διαχείρισης αποβλήτων εστιατορίων και catering ξενοδοχείων στην Κέρκυρα, υλοποιήθηκε από το Τμήμα Πληροφορικής του Ιονίου Πανεπιστημίου «δια ζώσης πρακτική άσκηση και επίδειξη εξειδικευμένου εξοπλισμού εκπαίδευσης στους οδηγών απορριμματοφόρων του Δήμου Κεντρικής Κέρκυρας και Διαποντίων Νήσων».

 

Η επιμόρφωση έλαβε χώρα σε δύο στάδια: Τηρώντας κάθε μέτρο προφύλαξης, το θεωρητικό σκέλος διεξήχθη εξ΄ αποστάσεως με σύγχρονα μέσα τηλεδιάσκεψης στις 17/9/2021. Το πρακτικό σκέλος πραγματοποιήθηκε στις 22/9/2021 σε υπαίθριο χώρο στη Διεύθυνση Τεχνικών Υπηρεσιών του Δήμου με το «Πρότυπο Κινητό Κέντρο Έρευνας και Εκπαίδευσης για Ασφαλείς Μεταφορές, Κατασκευές & Εξορύξεις» της εταιρείας Smart Drive Ltd. Το κινητό αυτό Κέντρο μεταξύ άλλων διαθέτει έναν τρισδιάστατο (3D) προσομοιωτή φορτηγού και λεωφορείου, ειδικά λογισμικά και άλλα διαδραστικά εργαλεία βιωματικής εκπαίδευσης. Παράλληλα ένας δεύτερος προσομοιωτής μηχανημάτων έργου, έδωσε στους συμμετέχοντες τη δυνατότητα να έρθουν σε επαφή με μηχανήματα έργων τα οποία χρησιμοποιούνται στο σύστημα «αποκομιδή-μεταφορά-επεξεργασία» των απορριμμάτων.

 

Την επιμόρφωση των οδηγών και την επίδειξη του ειδικού εξοπλισμού προσομοίωσης παρακολούθησε η Δήμαρχος Κεντρικής Κέρκυρας και Διαποντίων Νήσων κα Μερόπη Υδραίου, η οποία εμφανώς ενθουσιασμένη από την εμπειρία της συνδυασμένης χρήσης καινοτόμου εξοπλισμού και επιστημονικής εξειδίκευσης, δήλωσε ότι ανάλογες δράσεις θα πρέπει να συνεχιστούν προς όφελος των εργαζομένων στον Δήμο, αλλά και της τοπικής κοινωνίας. Παρόντες ήταν ο Επιστημονικός Υπεύθυνος του E-HORECA WANET Δρ. Μάρκος Αυλωνίτης (Αν. Καθηγητής Τμ. Πληροφορικής του Ιονίου Πανεπιστημίου) και ο Προϊστάμενος του Τμήματος Διαχείρισης Απορριμμάτων του Δήμου κ. Ανδρέας Λαβράνος. Η Διευθύνουσα της Smart Drive Ltd κα Χρυσούλα Μέρκα ευχαρίστησε τους παρευρισκόμενους για την υποδειγματική τάξη κατά την επιμόρφωση και την τήρηση των μέτρων προστασίας (αποστάσεις, μάσκες).

 

Το διασυνοριακό έργο E-HORECA WANET - «Αποτελεσματικό Δίκτυο Διαχείρισης Αποβλήτων Εστιατορίων & Catering Ξενοδοχείων» - (Efficient Hotel Restaurant & Catering Waste Network), υλοποιείται στο πλαίσιο του προγράμματος Interreg IPA II Cross- border cooperation programme Greece - Albania 2014-2020) [Προγράμματα Εδαφικής Συνεργασίας]. Η πράξη συγχρηματοδοτείται από την Ευρωπαϊκή Ένωση μέσω του Ευρωπαϊκού Ταμείου Περιφερειακής Ανάπτυξης (ΕΤΠΑ) και από εθνικούς πόρους των δύο κρατών μελών, Αλβανίας και Ελλάδας.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau speaks with Saskatchewan Premier Scott Moe

Yesterday, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau spoke with Saskatchewan Premier Scott Moe to discuss the COVID-19 pandemic and the rising number of cases in Saskatchewan.

The Prime Minister reiterated that the Government of Canada remains ready to respond to any requests from the Government of Saskatchewan and encouraged the Premier to submit specific needs as they emerge. He committed to working with the province to provide additional supports to keep people safe.

The two leaders also spoke of the importance of continuing to increase vaccination rates throughout the province. They agreed that vaccination is the most effective tool against COVID-19 and encouraged everyone in Saskatchewan and all Canadians to get vaccinated.

The Prime Minister and Premier also talked about their commitment to working with Indigenous, rural, and remote communities to encourage vaccine uptake. The Prime Minister reiterated his commitment to have people’s backs in Saskatchewan and to do whatever it takes until we end this pandemic.

The Prime Minister and Premier re-committed to working together and to remain in touch.

Hier, le premier ministre Justin Trudeau s’est entretenu avec le premier ministre de la Saskatchewan, Scott Moe, au sujet de la pandémie de COVID-19 et de la hausse de cas en Saskatchewan.

Le premier ministre Trudeau a réitéré que le gouvernement demeure prêt à répondre à toute demande formulée par le gouvernement de la Saskatchewan et a encouragé le premier ministre Moe à soumettre ses besoins particuliers au fur et à mesure qu’ils se présentent. Il s’est engagé à travailler en collaboration avec la province afin d’offrir un soutien additionnel pour assurer la protection de la population.

Les deux dirigeants ont également parlé de l’importance de continuer d’augmenter les taux de vaccination dans la province. Ils ont convenu que la vaccination est l’outil le plus efficace contre la COVID-19 et ont encouragé les gens de la Saskatchewan et tous les Canadiens à se faire vacciner.

Le premier ministre Trudeau et le premier ministre Moe ont également discuté de leur engagement à travailler de concert avec les communautés autochtones, rurales et éloignées afin de promouvoir la vaccination. Le premier ministre Trudeau a réitéré son engagement à soutenir les Saskatchewanais et à prendre toutes les mesures nécessaires jusqu’à ce que nous mettions fin à la pandémie.

Statement by the Prime Minister on the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation

The Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau, today issued the following statement on the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation:

“Today, I invite everyone across the country to recognize and observe the first National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. It is a day to reflect on the painful and lasting impacts of residential schools in Canada, and to honour survivors, their families, and their communities. It is also a day to remember the many children who never returned home, and an opportunity for us all to learn more, and to affirm the need for reconciliation and commit ourselves to the work ahead.

“The National Day for Truth and Reconciliation recognizes that at least 150,000 Indigenous children from across the country were forcibly separated from their families and their communities. Children were brought to residential schools where too many experienced abuse and were removed from their cultures, languages, and traditions. This federal day builds on the momentum of Orange Shirt Day, which was inspired by the story of Phyllis Webstad and chosen by Indigenous peoples to remember the legacy of residential schools and promote the path of reconciliation. The National Day for Truth and Reconciliation was established through legislation passed earlier this spring, and is a direct response to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s Call to Action number 80. As part of commemorations for this historic day, I was honoured to participate in a sunset ceremony to commemorate survivors and those who never returned to their families and communities, as the Peace Tower and other buildings near Parliament Hill were illuminated in orange, and a newly commissioned Survivors’ Flag from the National Centre for Truth and Reconciliation was raised.

“This year, the tragic locating of unmarked graves at former residential school sites across the country has reminded us of not only the impacts of colonialism and the harsh realities of our collective past, but also the work that is paramount to advancing reconciliation in Canada. Today, we also recognize the harms, injustices, and intergenerational trauma that Indigenous peoples have faced – and continue to face – because of the residential school system, systemic racism, and the discrimination that persists in our society. We must all learn about the history and legacy of residential schools. It’s only by facing these hard truths, and righting these wrongs, that we can move forward together toward a more positive, fair, and better future.

“Since 2015, the Government of Canada has been working in partnership with Indigenous peoples to close the gaps that still exist for far too many – and together we’ve made real progress. Over 80 per cent of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s Calls to Action that fall under the sole or shared responsibility of the federal government are completed or well underway. We’ve ended 117 long-term drinking water advisories, with a concrete plan to end all of them in the near future. We’ve passed the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act, protected Indigenous languages, and invested in education so thousands of Indigenous children are in new or better schools. We have also taken steps together to address the important issues identified in the National Inquiry into Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls’ Final Report and Calls for Justice, and we have co-developed Indigenous child and family services legislation to ensure that Indigenous children remain with their family and community. And we will continue to invest directly in Indigenous communities, as outlined in Budget 2021, to build a better future for everyone.

“On behalf of the Government of Canada, I encourage all Canadians to take this opportunity to learn more about the history of residential schools in Canada, listen to the stories of survivors and their families, and reflect on how each of us can play a part in the journey of reconciliation. I also encourage everyone to wear an orange shirt today to help spread awareness, because every child matters.”

Le premier ministre Justin Trudeau a fait aujourd’hui la déclaration suivante à l’occasion de la Journée nationale de la vérité et de la réconciliation :

« Aujourd’hui, j’invite les gens à travers le pays à reconnaître et observer la première Journée nationale de la vérité et de la réconciliation. Cette journée nous donne l’occasion de réfléchir aux conséquences douloureuses et durables des pensionnats au Canada et de rendre hommage aux survivants, à leurs familles et à leurs communautés. Elle nous invite à nous souvenir des nombreux enfants qui ne sont jamais rentrés chez eux et à nous renseigner davantage à ce sujet. Enfin, elle nous appelle à affirmer la nécessité de la réconciliation et à nous investir dans le travail qu’il reste à faire.

« En cette Journée nationale de la vérité et de la réconciliation, nous reconnaissons qu’à travers le pays, au moins 150 000 enfants autochtones ont été séparés de force de leurs familles et de leurs communautés. Ces enfants ont été amenés dans des pensionnats où un trop grand nombre ont subi des sévices et ont été dépossédés de leur culture, de leur langue et de leurs traditions. Instaurée par le gouvernement fédéral, cette journée donne suite à l’élan suscité par la Journée du chandail orange, qui s’inspire de l’histoire vécue par Phyllis Webstad et que les peuples autochtones ont choisie pour se souvenir de l’héritage des pensionnats et avancer sur la voie de la réconciliation. La Journée nationale de la vérité et de la réconciliation a été créée grâce à une mesure législative qui a été adoptée plus tôt ce printemps, en réponse directe à l’appel à l’action n^o 80 de la Commission de vérité et réconciliation. Dans le cadre des commémorations entourant cette journée historique, j’ai eu l’honneur de participer à une cérémonie au coucher du soleil afin de rendre hommage aux survivants et à ceux qui ne sont jamais revenus auprès de leurs familles et de leurs communautés. À cette occasion, la Tour de la Paix et d’autres immeubles à proximité de la Colline du Parlement étaient illuminés en orange, et un drapeau en l’honneur des survivants nouvellement créé par le Centre national pour la vérité et la réconciliation a été hissé.

« Cette année, la tragique découverte de tombes anonymes sur le site d’anciens pensionnats à travers le pays nous a rappelé non seulement les conséquences du colonialisme et les dures réalités de notre passé collectif, mais aussi le travail primordial que nous devons accomplir pour faire progresser la réconciliation au Canada. En ce jour, nous reconnaissons également les torts, les injustices et les traumatismes intergénérationnels que les peuples autochtones ont subis, et continuent de subir à cause du système des pensionnats, du racisme systémique et de la discrimination qui persiste dans notre société. Chacun de nous a la responsabilité de se renseigner sur l’histoire et l’héritage des pensionnats. Ce n’est qu’en affrontant ces dures vérités et en rectifiant ces erreurs que nous pourrons avancer ensemble vers un avenir meilleur, plus positif et plus juste.

« Depuis 2015, le gouvernement du Canada travaille en partenariat avec les peuples autochtones afin d’éliminer les écarts qui touchent encore un trop grand nombre d’entre eux et, ensemble, nous avons fait de véritables progrès. Plus de 80 % des appels à l’action de la Commission de vérité et réconciliation qui relèvent de la responsabilité unique ou partagée du gouvernement fédéral ont été mis en œuvre ou sont en bonne voie de l’être. Nous avons levé 117 avis à long terme concernant la qualité de l’eau potable, et nous avons un plan en vue de lever tous les autres dans un avenir proche. Nous avons fait adopter la Loi sur la Déclaration des Nations Unies sur les droits des peuples autochtones, protégé les langues autochtones et investi dans l’éducation, de sorte que des milliers d’enfants autochtones fréquentent maintenant des écoles nouvelles ou améliorées. New IMF Country Focus: Emerging Europe

(photo: BalkansCat by Getty Images) By William Lindquist, Nadeem Ilahi, and Jaewoo Lee IMF European Department   The purchase of government bonds by emerging market central banks may be reminiscent for some of the days of monetary financing of the government, which was often followed by rising inflation and currency depreciations. However, the successful actions by several central banks in emerging Europe to buy government bonds during the COVID-19 pandemic countered this history. Amid the financial market turmoil at the start of the pandemic, central banks in Croatia, Hungary, Poland, Romania, Serbia, and Turkey rolled out asset purchase programs (APPs), buying up local currency bonds issued by governments but also by the private sector in the case of Hungary. New IMF research suggests that asset purchases in emerging Europe contributed to the relief of financial market dysfunction, without signs of destabilizing effects. With this goal achieved and to support the transmission of higher policy rates to the longer end of the yield curve, central banks in emerging Europe should taper or end asset purchase programs once monetary policies are tightened. Asset purchase programs in emerging Europe are distinct Compared to APPs employed by advanced economy central banks during the pandemic, most APPs in emerging Europe were smaller in scale, though with significant differentiation within the region. They were also generally limited to the immediate period following the onset of the pandemic, except in Hungary and Poland, where asset purchases continue. The limited scale and duration of these APPs is consistent with their goals, which was to mitigate financial market dysfunction, provide liquidity, and repair monetary policy transmission mechanisms. This sets these APPs apart from the quantitative easing employed by advanced economy central banks, which aimed to provide additional stimulus in the context of policy interest rates at or near the effective lower bound. Indeed, APPs in emerging Europe were mostly implemented alongside or even preceded conventional monetary policy easing. For example, Romania’s asset purchase program essentially concluded during the summer of 2020, but the policy interest rate only reached its low of 1.25 percent in January 2021. Asset purchase programs reduced bond market pressures IMF research suggests that APPs in emerging Europe were successful in alleviating market dysfunction in the immediate aftermath of the pandemic shock. Using an event study approach, we find evidence that APP announcements led to an easing of bond market liquidity pressures and a reversal in the surge in term spreads. Importantly, we found no evidence that these APPs led to currency pressures. This may reflect their mostly limited duration and scope. In countries where APPs were more extensive or prolonged, the actions by central banks to absorb the added liquidity created by these purchases may have also played a role in minimizing the impact on exchange rates. For example, the central bank of Poland issued its own securities, while the central bank of Hungary used a deposit facility to drain liquidity created by purchases. Tapering or discontinuing remaining asset purchase programs After successfully alleviating initial market dysfunction, most APPs in the region have already concluded. For ongoing APPs in Hungary and Poland, central banks should consider the goals and their role in monetary policy tightening, which has already begun in Hungary. Increases in policy rates should be accompanied by a tapering or discontinuation of APPs, which would support the transmission of higher policy rates to the longer end of the yield curve. In August, the National Bank of Hungary announced that it would begin to gradually reduce its purchases of government bonds. While the National Bank of Poland has not yet raised interest rates, the pace of purchases has slowed significantly from the spring months. The future role of asset purchase programs While APPs in emerging Europe were successful during the pandemic and now appear to be part of the toolkit, less clear are the conditions in which to use them in the future. In part, their use may depend on global circumstances. It is important to recognize that the nearly universal easing of monetary policies during the pandemic created more conducive conditions for EMs to employ such tools. It remains to be seen whether APPs could be employed by EMs in response to idiosyncratic shocks without triggering reactions such as currency depreciation. Country fundamentals also matter. One concern about APPs in EMs is that they could abet fiscal dominance if they help support deficits that cannot be financed by conventional means. A strong track record of macroeconomic stability and credible economic institutions are likely to mitigate concerns about fiscal dominance. To this end, the structure and discipline provided by EU membership make these risks less acute, potentially enhancing future scope for APPs in these countries. FDIC to Convene Meeting of its
Advisory Committee on Economic Inclusion

On Thursday, October 7, at 1:00 p.m. ET, the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) will convene a meeting of its Advisory Committee on Economic Inclusion (ComE-IN). The FDIC Board of Directors established ComE-In in November 2006 to provide the agency with advice and recommendations on important initiatives to expand access to banking services for underserved populations.

The meeting’s agenda includes three panels of experts discussing the topics of innovation, recent housing market trends, and the opportunity to expand account access during tax season. The innovation panel will feature team members from the FDITECH Financial Inclusion Tech Sprint – “Breaking Down Barriers: Reaching the Last Mile of the Unbanked.” The committee will also report out on key challenges and opportunities for inclusion in their communities. Treasury Guarantees $100 Million in CDFI Bond Funding

WASHINGTON – The U.S. Department of the Treasury's Community Development Financial Institutions Fund (CDFI Fund) announced today the approval of a $100 million guarantee under the fiscal year 2021 round of the Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) Bond Guarantee Program. The guarantee will be issued to Bank of America CDFI Funding Corporation on behalf of Self-Help Ventures Fund (Self-Help). Nearly $1.8 billion has now been guaranteed since the inception of the CDFI Bond Guarantee Program, which provides long-term, fixed-rate capital for projects in low-income urban, rural, and Native communities.

“The CDFI Bond Guarantee Program was created over 10 years ago to respond to a critical market need for long-term low-cost capital to spur economic growth and jump start community revitalization,” said CDFI Fund Director Jodie Harris. “That need has never been greater than now for low- income communities across our nation as they try to recover from the disproportionate impact of the pandemic and rebuild after numerous natural disasters. The CDFI Bond Guarantee Program is a proven and valuable tool to help these distressed communities get back on their feet.”

Self-Help, which is headquartered in Durham, North Carolina, will use the bond loan to finance commercial real estate, rental housing, charter schools, not-for-profit organizations, and healthcare in low income communities in North Carolina, California, Illinois, Florida, and Washington, DC.

Established by the Small Business Jobs Act of 2010, the CDFI Bond Guarantee Program provides low cost capital that enables CDFIs to execute large scale community development projects. Under the program, Qualified Issuers (CDFIs or their designees) apply to the CDFI Fund for authorization to issue guaranteed bonds worth a minimum of $100 million. The bonds provide CDFIs with access to substantial long-term, fixed-rate capital to invest in distressed communities. Since its creation in 1994, the CDFI Fund has awarded more than $5.1 billion to CDFIs, community development organizations, and financial institutions through the Bank Enterprise Award Program, the Capital Magnet Fund, the Community Development Financial Institutions Program, the Financial Education and Counseling Pilot Program, and the Native American CDFI Assistance Program. In addition, the CDFI Fund has allocated $66 billion in tax credit allocation authority to Community Development Entities through the New Markets Tax Credit Program, and closed guaranteed bonds for nearly $1.8 billion through the CDFI Bond Guarantee Program.
