Secretary Rubio’s Travel to Germany, Slovakia and Hungary

Secretary of State Marco Rubio will travel to Germany from February 13-15 to participate in the 62nd Munich Security Conference.

Secretary Rubio will then travel to Bratislava, Slovakia and Budapest, Hungary from February 15-16. In Bratislava, Secretary Rubio will meet with key members of the Slovak government to advance shared regional security interests, strengthen bilateral cooperation on nuclear energy and energy diversification, and support Slovakia’s military modernization and NATO commitments.

During his visit to Budapest, the Secretary will meet with key Hungarian officials to bolster our shared bilateral and regional interests, including our commitment to peace processes to resolve global conflicts and to the U.S.-Hungary energy partnership.

The following GAIN reports were released on February 18, 2026. _______ China: China's Priorities in Agriculture and Rural Development in 2026 On February 3, 2026, Beijing released the annual No. 1 Document, outlining national strategies and measures related to agriculture and rural development. While food security remains the top priority, the focus has shifted from pursuing quantity increases to striving for improvements in quality. The document highlights the adoption of “new productive forces” such as artificial intelligence and robotics in agriculture. Additionally, it reiterates diversifying import sources and stresses the importance of coordinating agricultural imports with domestic production.

Today, the United States joins countries around the world in remembering the six million Jews who were systematically murdered in the Holocaust, as well as the millions of others the Nazis marked for persecution and mass murder. As we commemorate the liberation of the Nazi death camp Auschwitz-Birkenau, we reaffirm a solemn and moral truth: all human beings are valuable and endowed by their Creator with inherent dignity and certain unalienable rights.

China has launched its largest-ever military exercises around Taiwan, simulating a blockade and increasing tensions in the region. AEI’s Dan Blumenthal notes,

“China’s provocative acts of aggression around Taiwan are meant to demonstrate that the island can be cut off from foreign assistance and attacked with impunity. These exercises should be universally condemned while the US and other allies of Taiwan accelerate the arming and training of Taiwan’s armed forces and improve their own readiness to break a blockade and effectively defend Taiwan.”
