Dear young media makers, Greetings and welcome to our last newsletter of 2023! As we bid adieu to a year filled with meaningful endeavors, join us in recollecting the highlights of our journey. From impactful Erasmus+ projects to the resonance of YouthMediaMatter campaigns and the enriching exchanges with Member organizations, each moment has been important for European Youth Press. In this edition, gain insights from our final Board Meeting of 2023, that also marked the inauguration of our new Executive Board. As we turn the pages of this concluding newsletter, let's celebrate the achievements, share knowledge, and gear up for the challenges and triumphs that await us in the new year. EYP Executive Board A new Executive Board, Advisory Board & Treasurer We are thrilled to introduce our new Executive Board Members for the coming two years: Iva Kuljača, Sofiya Tryzub-Cook, Renate Karlsmoen, Monika Kmeťová, Stefano Zamparo, and Narek Aleksanyan. Congratulations to all of you! Jonathan Hendrickx and Anna Majholm will continue their roles as Executive Board Members. A big thank you goes out to Katarina Milović, Rieke Smit, Julia Fedlmeier, Elina Gabdurazakova, and Axel Bosson for their work as Executive Board Members. We are also delighted to share that Sebastian Olényi will rejoin our Advisory Board and Anastasiia Tyukthina will be our new Treasurer. New Member Organizations We are delighted to welcome several new Member Organizations into the European Youth Press family in 2023. As Full Members, we extend a warm welcome to InfinityGreece, ViedDoma, and Prensa Juvenil Canaria. As Observing Members, we're excited to have on board The European Correspondent, INEDNET, Jets d'encre, Azerbaijani-American Youth Association, Bright Future Foundation, E-Unity, Junge Presse, Martinum.media gUG, and Radio Študent. Orange Magazine Navigating the challenges of event scarcity during the pandemic, Orange Magazine is back in full swing! In April, we welcomed two new Team Leaders, Saskia Reimann and Catherine Way. In September, Catherine made the tough decision to leave in order to focus on her studies, paving the way for EYP's former Executive Board Member Julia Fedlmeier to join as the new co-Team Leader in November. Board Meetings In Board Meetings all over Europe, our Executive Board has organized the work of European Youth Press and exchanged with our Member Organizations to foster colloboration and exchange. Erasmus+ Projects European Youth Press has been an organizing partner of many different Erasmus+ projects that focused on Youth Participation, Youth Media and Inclusion. One example is the "Engage and Report" project that took place in Italy, another example is the "Inclusion is being asked to Dance" project that was realized in Armenia. Proactive Team and #YouthMediaMatters Campaign As a Proactive team member Anjali Krishna Subhash has supported European Youth Press with the Advocacy Campaign #Youth Media Matters that aimed to promoteOur Proactive team has supported European Youth Press with the Advocacy Campaign #Youth Media Matters that aimed to promote the importance of quality learning within the youth media sector, engage and inspire young media makers and foster colloborations between young media makers and organisations. Forum of Member Organizations in Warsaw Our Forum of Member Organisations took place in August in Warsaw this year. The event had a focus on the contemporary use of Artificial Intelligence in journalism and media and consisted of panels, lectures, case studies and discussions. Topics included opportunities and risks of using AI in journalism, legal regulations and transparency standards. News from our last Board Meeting in 2023 In a vibrant setting on the stunning Island of Gran Canaria, the European Youth Press convened for the final Board Meeting of 2023. Hosted in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, we had the pleasure of meeting with representatives from our member organisation, Prensa Juvenil Canaria, over dinner. The gathering marked a pivotal moment as both the outgoing and incoming Executive Board Members came together for a seamless handover. Amidst the scenic backdrop, discussions unfolded about the division of tasks and exciting projects lined up for 2024 and beyond.   News & Opportunities German-Polish Tadeusz-Mazowiecki Journalism Prize 2024   What?  Journalism competition on the topic of German-Polish relations. Entries in the categories Print, Radio, Television and Video, New Journalistic Formats and Local Journalism in the Border Region are allowed. Authors and editorial teams can submit a maximum of three contributions to the competition.The jury will decide on the prizes totalling 25,000 euros. All aspects of German-Polish relations can be covered. When? Submission deadline: January 31st 2024 Find out more here. International Women's Media Fund   What? The fund supports women in journalism with projects including educational opportunities, investigative reporting and media development initiatives. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis, women and nonbinary persons from all nationalities are eligible to apply. Find our more here. German Paralympic Media Award   What? The German Paralympic Media Award honors the best reports and background stories, interviews, and other forms of reporting on sports involving people with disabilities. Crucial is the well-researched, competent and generally understandable presentation. Deadline: 3rd January 2024. Find our more here. World Press Photo Contest   What? The World Press Photo Contest and (since 2011) the World Press Photo Digital Storytelling Contest award the best press photos as well as the best photojournalistic multimedia stories of the year worldwide. Deadline: January 11th 2024. Find our more here. European Colloborative Journalism Programme   What? Training program: European Journalists programme for expertise, methods and tools for cross-border journalism. Open for freelance journalists. Deadline: January 8th 2024. Find our more here.
