The Norwegian Government is working towards joint fulfilment of its Paris commitment together with the European Union (EU). Joint fulfilment will make it possible to achieve the 2030 reduction target for emissions that fall outside the scope of the EU Emissions Trading System (EU ETS) mainly through domestic emission reductions, and with the use of EU flexibility mechanisms as necessary. The main sources of non-ETS emissions are transport, agriculture, buildings and waste, but also manufacturing and the petroleum sector. The Government’s strategy for 2030 is intended to open the way for substantial domestic emission reductions.

Prime Minister announces investments for safer, more affordable housing in Vancouver

Every Canadian deserves to have a safe and affordable place to call home. That is why the Government of Canada launched Canada’s very first National Housing Strategy – a once-in-a-generation $40 billion investment to fight homelessness and improve access to affordable housing from coast to coast to coast.
The Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau, today highlighted an investment of $40 million through the National Housing Strategy for a project to develop new, affordable housing in Vancouver. The new project, which will be completed this year, will include 115 rental housing units located close to public transit, schools, and local services.
The Prime Minister also announced funding for three new projects to build new affordable homes, provide housing for people in transition, and expand shelter capacity in Vancouver.
Through the Affordable Housing Innovation Fund, the Government of Canada is helping Vancity credit union to provide financing for new affordable rental housing developments, which will create as many as 2,500 new homes for middle class families in Vancouver and across the province.
The Fund will also help the city’s most vulnerable find a place to call home, by providing funding to the Vancouver Affordable Housing Agency for a temporary modular housing initiative. This will help lower-income residents and those experiencing homelessness to transition into longer-term housing. Once completed, this initiative is expected to provide over 600 pre-constructed units, which can be easily relocated and reassembled across Vancouver as needed.
The Government of Canada is also supporting the redevelopment of the Union Gospel Mission’s Women and Families Centre in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside community. The Centre will expand to over 60 units, providing a safe shelter for women who are recovering from addiction.
By making smart investments in housing initiatives that put people first, the Government of Canada is making a real difference in the lives of Canadians from coast to coast to coast.

- In 2017, the Government of Canada announced a 10-year, $40 billion National Housing Strategy that will help reduce homelessness and improve the availability and quality of housing for Canadians in need. The strategy sets clear goals to remove 530,000 Canadians from housing need and reduce chronic homelessness.
- Through the Affordable Housing Innovation Fund, the Government of Canada is contributing $6 million to Vancity’s Pre-construction Equity Loan Fund to support the development of new affordable housing. The Fund provides low interest funding for affordable housing projects, offering a lower rate than other financial institutions.
- The Government of Canada is providing $1.5 million through the Affordable Housing Innovation Fund to the Vancouver Affordable Housing Agency, for an initiative that assembles temporary housing in underused sites in the city, using factory-built housing units that can be relocated and reassembled as needed.

- Through the National Housing Co-Investment Fund, the Government of Canada has a financial commitment of over $11.3 million to redevelop a new Women and Families Centre in the Downtown Eastside of Vancouver that provides temporary housing to women recovering from addiction. The new centre will expand to over 60 units, and will be more affordable, accessible, and energy efficient.
- The National Housing Co-Investment Fund provides low-cost loans and financial contributions to support and develop affordable housing that is energy efficient and accessible.

Η επιτυχία του προγράμματος συνεχίζεται και κατά τον τέταρτο κύκλο που αρχίζει στις 25/2/2019, με προθεσμία υποβολής αιτήσεων την 18/2/2019.
Με την ολοκλήρωση του προγράμματος ο συμμετέχων αποκτά Πιστοποιητικό Εξειδικευμένης Επιμόρφωσης του Εθνικού και Καποδιστριακού Πανεπιστημίου Αθηνών - Ε.Κ.Π.Α. και 10,5 Πιστωτικές Μονάδες ECVET (EuropeanCredit System for Vocational Education and Training), δεδομένου ότι το πρόγραμμα αυτό υποστηρίζεται από το Ευρωπαϊκό Σύστημα επαγγελματικής και κατάρτισης.

Φαντάσου τον δεξιό που ήταν μιας κάποιας ηλικίας στις αρχές του '80 και τις επόμενες δεκαετίες έφαγε στη μάπα τον Παπανδρέου και τον παπανδρεϊσμό. Ηταν στο καφενείο μόνος του, ενώ όλοι οι άλλοι προσπαθούσαν να τον διαφωτίσουν ως προς τα κατορθώματα της Αλλαγής. Τα υπεύθυνα και έγκυρα δημοσιογραφικά στόματα τον ενημέρωναν πως το ΠΑΣΟΚ είναι το φυσικό και κυρίαρχο κόμμα εξουσίας, ενώ η κεντροδεξιά παράταξη είχε ρόλο κομπάρσου της ιστορίας. Δεκαετία έμπαινε, δεκαετία έβγαινε κι αυτός εκεί, μόνος εναντίον όλων, και ειδικά εναντίον του Παπανδρέου.
Εγκαταλειμμένος ακόμα και από τον Θεό, που βαθιά μέσα του γνώριζε ότι ήταν δεξιός. Αυτή η «απομόνωση» θα πρέπει να του δημιούργησε κάποιο μίσος για τον Ανδρέα Παπανδρέου πέραν του συνηθισμένου. Κι όμως, αυτός ο άνθρωπος που πέρασε τόσα, που μίσησε τον Παπανδρέου και τον παπανδρεϊσμό όσο λίγοι, θα πρέπει να αισθάνεται μια βαθιά και ασίγαστη νοσταλγία για τον Ανδρέα.
Και δεν είναι η νοσταλγία για τις πολιτικές διαμάχες μιας άλλης εποχής όσο μια αίσθηση απώλειας για το ίδιο το άτομο του Ανδρέα Παπανδρέου. Ο Ανδρέας Παπανδρέου ήταν δημιούργημα της αστικής κουλτούρας. Είχε γνώσεις και καλλιέργεια.
Μπορούσε να μιλήσει στον μέσο Ελληνα, αλλά ταυτόχρονα μπορούσε να διαπραγματευτεί, να κουβεντιάσει και να συγκρουστεί με τους πολιτικούς άλλων χωρών. Σε αμυντικά θέματα και στην εξωτερική πολιτική πολλές φορές ήταν δεξιότερος των δεξιών.
Τώρα, ο προαναφερθείς δεξιός θα νοσταλγεί τον Ανδρέα Παπανδρέου, γιατί απλούστατα ό,τι τον έχει αντικαταστήσει στον χώρο της Αριστεράς και της Κεντροαριστεράς είναι σαφώς κατώτερο. Και δεν είναι απλώς κατώτερο σε θέσεις, γνώσεις και καλλιέργεια, αλλά ακόμα και σε χαρακτήρα.
Η παρακμή είναι καθολική, απότομη και κολοσσιαία. Και κάπου εκεί εντοπίζεται το πρόβλημα με τον παπανδρεϊσμό. Η γοητεία του Παπανδρέου ήταν ένα παράγωγο μιας κουλτούρας που οι πολιτικές του οδηγούσαν προς την εξαφάνιση. Ο Ανδρέας Παπανδρέου ήταν ο ευεργετηθείς μιας κληρονομιάς που δεν μπορούσε να επιβιώσει των πολιτικών επιλογών του.
Αρχισε να αφαιρείς νόμους και πολιτικές που εφαρμόστηκαν από το '81 και μετά και συνειδητοποιείς πόσο ριζικά διαφορετική θα ήταν η πραγματικότητα σήμερα. Βγάλε το νόμο πλαίσιο για τα ΑΕΙ του '82, αφαίρεσε την προσπέλαση του συντεχνιακού τσαμπουκά και τρομοκρατίας σε όλους τους τομείς της δημόσιας ζωής, εξαφάνισε τον ξέφρενο δανεισμό του κράτους και, σιγά σιγά, η πολιτική οντότητα που ακούει στο όνομα Αλέξης Τσίπρας αρχίζει να εξαφανίζεται. Η ποιοτική διαφορά μεταξύ ενός Ανδρέα Παπανδρέου και ενός Αλέξη Τσίπρα είναι τεράστια, αλλά οι αμαρτίες του πρώτου μάς έφεραν στο πολιτισμικό χαμηλό της πρωθυπουργίας του δεύτερου.
Prime Minister highlights project to improve public transit in Maple

In 2016, the Government of Canada launched the biggest infrastructure plan in Canadian history. Since then, we have invested in and approved thousands of infrastructure projects, including 650 public transit projects in Ontario alone.
As Canadian cities continue to grow, we need to make sure their public transit systems keep pace with current and future transportation needs. The Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau, today visited Maple, Ontario, where he highlighted an investment of over $1.8 billion from the Government of Canada to expand GO rail public transportation infrastructure, including between Barrie and Union Station in Toronto.
These improvements will be funded as part of the ongoing GO Expansion project – the single largest transit project the federal government has ever funded.
With construction soon to be under way, the project will continue to create good, middle class jobs. Once completed, it will cut traffic, reduce air pollution, grow transit ridership, and make it easier and safer for people to get around the Greater Golden Horseshoe area of Ontario.
“Smart investments in public transit help connect communities, create good, middle class jobs, and protect our environment. They also make a real difference in people’s lives, helping them get to work on time in the mornings, and be home with their families in the evenings. We will continue to work with and listen to communities, and invest in the infrastructure they need – today and into the future.”

AHEPA celebrated Odyssey Charter School's excellence in the school's delivery of tuition-free, K-12 education to 1,700 students who learn Modern Greek language, at AHEPA's Regional Banquet themed "Boundless Journey Gala," Feb. 2, 2019. Recently, OCS, located in Wilmington, Delaware, has been voted as the No. 1 public school in the state. Since its inception in 2006, OCS has been rated a "Superior School" by Delaware's Department of Education in 2008, 2009, and 2010.
Chancellor of Aristotle University in Thessaloniki, Professor Pericles Mitkas offered keynote remarks. Dr. Mitkas, a 25-year Ahepan, announced a special collaborative relationship developed between Odyssey and the largest university in Greece.
More than 200 invite-only guests attended the gala, including Supreme President George E. Loucas and Daughters of Penelope Grand President Demi Thomas, who both addressed the audience. Brother Dimitri Dandolos chaired the event, which was held at the Wilmington Country Club. Executive Director Basil N. Mossaidis served as Master of Ceremonies. Special thanks goes to AHEPA Board of Trustees Vice Chair Carl R. Hollister, PSP, and Supreme Secretary George Horiates. They raised funds to underwrite the cost of the gala. As a result, there was no price of admission.
Earlier in the day, Supreme Lodge officers and guests were given a tour of the OCS Educational Campus, including the school grounds, classrooms, science labs and music rooms.

50 million women
“More than 100 countries prohibit women from working in specific industries, which means 2.7 billion women are legally restricted from having the same choice of jobs as men,” Advisor to the President Ivanka Trump writes in The Wall Street Journal this week. In 18 countries, husbands can even legally prevent their wives from working and earning their own income, she adds.
Expanding economic opportunity for women isn’t just the right thing to do—it’s in America’s national interest, as well. It has the potential to boost global economic output by $12 trillion by 2025. Unleashing widespread prosperity throughout the developing world can lead to a more stable, peaceful global order.
This afternoon, President Donald J. Trump signed a memorandum to launch the Women’s Global Development and Prosperity Initiative, or “W-GDP.” Spearheaded by Ivanka Trump, this first-of-its-kind, whole-of-government approach to women’s economic empowerment will aim to touch 50 million lives in developing countries.
That potential $12 trillion payoff “represents far more than an economic boom—it represents millions of lives full of promise: mothers who could provide for their children, daughters who could be the first to graduate from high school, and young women who could start businesses and create jobs,” Ms. Trump writes.
W-GDP stands on a three-pillar premise:
- Increase women’s global labor force participation and advancement in the workplace by providing them with quality education, training, and support
- Improve the access that female entrepreneurs and business owners have to financing and market opportunities that help grow their businesses
- Eliminate the legal, regulatory, and cultural barriers that prevent women from participating in their local economies
“By investing in women around the world, we’re investing in families, we’re investing in prosperity, and we’re investing in peace,” President Trump said.

Tι ήταν η ΕΦΗΜΕΡΙΔΑ «ΠΟΛΙΤΙΚΗ»..για όσους δεν γνωρίζουν.
Η «ΠΟΛΙΤΙΚΗ» γεννήθηκε το 2000,ως συνέχεια του Περιοδικού «ΑΧΑΡΝΕΩΝ Έργα». Δημιουργήθηκε από Επαγγελματίες Εκδότες με δεκαετίες στον τομέα της Διαφήμισης, των Εκδόσεων και των Δημοσίων Σχέσεων και αρχικά ήταν μια Υπερτοπική Εφημερίδα με κύριο αντικείμενο το Αυτοδιοικητικό Ρεπορτάζ.
Επί χρόνια, κυκλοφορούσε την έντυπη έκδοσή της σε ένα ικανότατο τιράζ (5000 καλαίσθητων φύλλων εβδομαδιαίως) και εντυπωσίαζε με την ποιότητα της εμφάνισης και το ουσιώδες, μαχητικό και έντιμο περιεχόμενο της.
Η δύναμη της Πένας της Εφημερίδας, η Ειλικρίνεια, οι Ερευνές της που έφερναν πάντα ουσιαστικό αποτέλεσμα ενημέρωσης, την έφεραν πολύ γρήγορα πρώτη στην προτίμηση των αναγνωστών και γρήγορα εξελίχθηκε σε Εφημερίδα Γνώμης και όχι μόνον για την Περιφέρεια στην οποία κυκλοφορούσε.
=Επι είκοσι έξι (26) χρόνια, στηρίζει τον Απόδημο Ελληνισμό, χωρίς καμία-ούτε την παραμικρή- διακοπή

=Επί είκοσι έξι ολόκληρα χρόνια, προβάλλει με αίσθηση καθήκοντος κάθε ξεχωριστό, έντιμο και υπεύθυνο Πολιτικό της Πολιτικής Σκηνής. Στις σελίδες της, θα βρείτε ακόμα και σήμερα μόνο άξιες και χρήσιμες Πολιτικές Προσωπικότητες αλλά και ενημέρωση από κάθε Κόμμα της Ελληνικής Βουλής. Η «ΠΟΛΙΤΙΚΗ» ουδέποτε διαχώρησε τους αναγνώστες της ανάλογα με τα πολιτικά τους πιστεύω. Επραττε το καθήκον της, ενημερώνοντας όλους τους Ελληνες, ως όφειλε.
=Επί είκοσι έξι ολόκληρα χρόνια, δίνει βήμα στους αδέσμευτους, τους επιτυχημένους, τους γνώστες και θιασώτες της Αλήθειας. Στηρίζει τον Θεσμό της Ελληνικής Οικογένειας, την Παιδεία, την Ελληνική Ιστορία, προβάλλει με όλες της τις δυνάμεις τους Αδελφούς μας απανταχού της Γης, ενημερώνει για τα επιτεύγματα της Επιστήμης, της Επιχειρηματικότητας και πολλά άλλα που πολύ καλά γνωρίζουν οι Αναγνώστες της.
=Επί είκοσι έξι ολόκληρα χρόνια, ο απλός δημότης–πολίτης, φιλοξενείται στις σελίδες της με μόνη προϋπόθεση την ειλικρινή και αντικειμενική γραφή και την ελεύθερη Γνώμη, η οποία ΟΥΔΕΠΟΤΕ λογοκρίθηκε.
Η ΕΦΗΜΕΡΙΔΑ «ΠΟΛΙΤΙΚΗ», είναι ένα βήμα Ισονομίας και Ισοπολιτείας, έννοιες απόλυτα επιθυμητές, ιδιαιτέρως στις ημέρες μας. Είναι ο δικτυακός τόπος της έκφρασης του πολίτη και της εποικοδομητικής κριτικής, μακριά από κάθε στήριξη αφού ΟΥΔΕΠΟΤΕ ετύγχανε οικονομικής υποστήριξης από Δήμους, Κυβερνήσεις ή όποιους άλλους Δημόσιους ή Ιδιωτικούς Φορείς, δεν είχε ΠΟΤΕ χορηγούς, ή οποιασδήποτε μορφής υποστηρικτές. Απολαμβάνει όμως Διεθνούς σεβασμού αφού φιλοξενεί ενημέρωση από αρκετά ξένα Κράτη πράγμα που της περιποιεί βεβαίως, μέγιστη τιμή.
Η ΕΦΗΜΕΡΙΔΑ «ΠΟΛΙΤΙΚΗ» διαγράφει απο την γέννησή της μια αξιοζήλευτη πορεία και απέκτησε εξ αιτίας αυτού,ΜΕΓΙΣΤΗ αναγνωσιμότητα.
Η Εφημερίδα «ΠΟΛΙΤΙΚΗ» κέρδισε την αποδοχή και τον σεβασμό που της ανήκει, με «εξετάσεις» εικοσι έξι ολόκληρων ετών, με συνεχείς αιματηρούς αγώνες κατά της τοπικής διαπλοκής, με αγώνα επιβίωσης σε πολύ δύσκολους καιρούς, με Εντιμότητα, αίσθηση Καθήκοντος και Ευθύνης.
