United Kingdom gives CHF 33,000 to support LDCs’
participation in MC13
The United Kingdom has contributed GBP 30,000 (approximately CHF 33,000) to help government officials from least-developed countries (LDCs) take part in the 13th WTO Ministerial Conference (MC13), which will be held from 26 to 29 February in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.

Fisheries subsidies chair circulates draft text to ministers as basis for MC13 negotiations
The chair of the fisheries subsidies negotiations, Ambassador Einar Gunnarsson of Iceland, on 16 February circulated to ministers a draft text on Additional Provisions on Fisheries Subsidies, with disciplines on subsidies contributing to overcapacity and overfishing, as the basis for finalizing the negotiations on these issues at the 13th Ministerial Conference (MC13). The chair said the text, which draws on members’ proposals and discussions, reflects his best attempt to identify a balance most likely to build consensus.

Norway pledges NOK 20 million to support sustainable economic growth in LDCs through EIF
The government of Norway has contributed CHF 1.2 million (NOK 14.7 million) to help least-developed countries (LDCs) sustain the progress they have achieved with the support of the Enhanced Integrated Framework (EIF). This is the first instalment of the NOK 20 million (approximately CHF 1.7 million) that Norway has pledged to the newly established EIF Interim Facility, which has been set up to bridge the gap between the end of Phase Two of the EIF and the establishment of a new multilateral support mechanism for LDCs.
