Today, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau met with Manitoba Premier Brian Pallister to discuss shared priorities. The Prime Minister reaffirmed his commitment to work collaboratively with the Government of Manitoba.
The leaders discussed the recent tragedies that have occurred across Winnipeg, and reiterated their commitment to protecting the health and safety of Manitobans and all Canadians.
The Prime Minister and the Premier discussed the significant shared infrastructure investments being made under the Investing in Canada Plan that will build prosperous communities and support the transition to a clean economy. They also exchanged views on health care, the environment, the fight against climate change, and electrification and energy projects. They both agreed that investments toward climate change adaptation and mitigation are important to building stronger and more resilient communities.
The Prime Minister and the Premier agreed on the importance of advancing the implementation of the Canada Free Trade Agreement to break down internal trade barriers and encourage a competitive domestic market.
They agreed to continue to collaborate on these shared priorities and other issues of importance to Manitobans, and looked forward to the next First Ministers’ Meeting.
Statement by the Prime Minister on the retirement of Greta Bossenmaier

The Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau, today issued the following statement on the upcoming retirement of Greta Bossenmaier:
“Today, I announce the retirement of my National Security and Intelligence Advisor, Greta Bossenmaier, in early December 2019, from the Public Service.
“Ms. Bossenmaier has served Canadians with dedication, integrity, and excellence over the past 35 years, including in senior roles such as Chief of the Communications Security Establishment; Deputy Minister, Afghanistan Task Force, Privy Council Office; and Senior Associate Deputy Minister of International Development.
“David Morrison, my Foreign and Defence Policy Advisor, will temporarily act as the National Security and Intelligence Advisor in addition to his regular role. A new National Security and Intelligence Advisor will be appointed soon to fill the vacancy created by Ms. Bossenmaier’s retirement.
“On behalf of all Canadians, I wish Ms. Bossenmaier the very best in retirement and thank her for her commitment and dedication during her exceptional career.”

Today, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau met with Prince Edward Island Premier Dennis King to discuss shared priorities. The Prime Minister reaffirmed his commitment to work collaboratively with the Government of Prince Edward Island.
The leaders discussed the recent clean-up efforts following Hurricane Dorian, and the importance of continued cooperation to lessen the impact of future natural disasters.
The Prime Minister and the Premier reiterated their commitment to fight climate change and support the transition to a clean growth economy. They discussed green infrastructure projects and partnership opportunities to support jobs and economic development, and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
Additionally, they discussed the importance of strengthening primary and mental health care. They agreed on the need for innovative solutions to manage costs and improve health services.
The Prime Minister and the Premier agreed to work in partnership to address the labour shortage in a number of important Island industries so that the Prince Edward Island economy continues to grow.
They agreed to continue to collaborate on these shared priorities and other issues of importance to Islanders, and looked forward to the next First Ministers’ Meeting.
Prime Minister meets with Richard Neal, Chairman of the U.S. House of Representatives Ways and Means Committee

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau met today with United States House of Representatives Ways and Means Committee Chairman Richard Neal and Committee members Suzan DelBene, Brendan Boyle, and Drew Ferguson.
The Prime Minister and the U.S. Representatives reaffirmed the strength of the Canada-United States partnership, and discussed progress being made towards the ratification of the new North American Free Trade Agreement and Canada’s efforts to support labour reforms in Mexico.
They agreed on the importance of continued strong relations for the benefit of people, jobs, and businesses on both sides of the border.
