“For over 70 years, the United Nations (UN) has brought the international community together to address difficult issues that transcend borders. Staff and volunteers from around the world support UN programs, funds, and agencies dedicated to helping the world’s most vulnerable people.

“Canada is a proud founding member of the UN, and will continue to engage partners from around the world to achieve global security and prosperity. We have renewed our longstanding commitment to UN peacekeeping, and have taken a leadership role to meet the changing nature of conflict and peacebuilding, including through innovative approaches such as the Elsie Initiative for Women in Peace Operations.

The Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau, today issued the following statement on the five-year anniversary of the attack at the National War Memorial and Parliament Hill:

“Five years ago today, a senseless attack at the National War Memorial and Parliament Hill in Ottawa claimed the life of Corporal Nathan Cirillo, a sentry at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, and injured several others.

“On this solemn anniversary, we remember Corporal Cirillo, along with Warrant Officer Patrice Vincent who was killed two days earlier in a separate attack in Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, Quebec.

“As we remember these two brave members of our Canadian Armed Forces, we also thank the bystanders who provided first aid, as well as the first responders and members of our Parliamentary family who put their safety at risk to protect us.

“Today, as we honour the courageous Canadians in uniform who defend our values and freedom at home and around the world, we are reminded of the responsibility we all share to denounce hatred and promote inclusion in our communities.”

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau spoke today with United States President Donald Trump, who called to offer his congratulations to the Prime Minister on his re-election.

The two leaders reaffirmed their commitment to close cooperation between Canada and the United States, and discussed progress being made towards the ratification of the new North American Free Trade Agreement.

The Prime Minister and the President also discussed the current situation in Syria.

The two leaders looked forward to working closely together on shared priorities.

Αντιπροσωπεία των Γεωπόνων Τ.Ε. της ΠΕΠΤΕΓ με επικεφαλής τον Πρόεδρο Γιάννη Πετράτο και τον Γενικό Γραμματέα Κώστα Καρύδη βρέθηκε την Πέμπτη 24 Οκτωβρίου στην Βουλή και είχε συναντήσεις , αρχικά με τον εκ των Αντιπροέδρων της Βουλής και Βουλευτή Λέσβου της ΝΕΑΣ ΔΗΜΟΚΡΑΤΙΑΣ κ. Χαράλαμπο Αθανασίου και εν συνεχεία με τον Βουλευτή Ηρακλείου του ΚΙΝΑΛ κ. Βασίλειο Κεγκέρογλου

Κατά την διάρκεια των συναντήσεων έγινε εκτενή αναφορά για τα προβλήματα που έχουν προκύψει από την κατάργηση των Ανώτατων Τεχνολογικών Ιδρυμάτων και τη μη αντιστοίχιση των πτυχίων των αποφοίτων, με αυτά των νεοιδρυθέντων Πανεπιστημιακών τμημάτων , ενώ συζητήθηκε και το θέμα της επιμελητηριακής εκπροσώπησης του κλάδου των Πτυχιούχων Γεωτεχνικών ΤΕ το οποίο παραμένει σε εκκρεμότητα.

Η ένωση έχει προγραμματίσει μια σειρά από ενέργειες προς τη διευθέτηση των παραπάνω ζητημάτων, αλλά και άλλων θεμάτων που επηρεάζουν την άσκηση του επαγγέλματος τους, προκειμένου να επιλυθούν οριστικά προς όφελος των μελών της.

Συνέντευξη του Υπουργού Εξωτερικών, Νίκου Δένδια, στον ραδιοφωνικό σταθμό “Παραπολιτικά 90,1 FM”

Ο Υπουργός Εξωτερικών και Βουλευτής του Νότιου Τομέα της Β’ Αθηνών, Νίκος Δένδιας, παραχώρησε συνέντευξη σήμερα το πρωί στον ραδιοφωνικό σταθμό “Παραπολιτικά 90,1 FM”, στην εκπομπή που παρουσιάζει ο δημοσιογράφος Παναγιώτης Τζένος.

Π. ΤΖΕΝΟΣ: Φιλοξενούμε στην τηλεφωνική μας γραμμή τον Υπουργό Εξωτερικών τον κ. Νίκο Δένδια. Έναν άνθρωπο ο οποίος φαντάζομαι το τελευταίο διάστημα, από την ημέρα που ανέλαβε τα καθήκοντά του, έχει πάρα πολύ δουλειά και πάρα πολύ σοβαρή δουλειά.                                                   
Κύριε Υπουργέ καλημέρα σας. Θέλω να ξεκινήσουμε από τα ευχάριστα…. 
Είχατε μια συνάντηση με τον Πάπα χθες. Αλλά νομίζω ότι δεν ήταν μόνο θρησκευτική συνάντηση.                                          

Ν. ΔΕΝΔΙΑΣ: Καθόλου. Η επίσκεψη στο Βατικανό δεν ήταν μια επίσκεψη θρησκευτική. Έγινε υπό την ιδιότητα του Πάπα και του Αναπληρωτή Πρωθυπουργού  και του Υπουργού Εξωτερικών ως πολιτειακών αρχών.
Εμάς αυτό που μας ενδιαφέρει δεν είναι το θρησκευτικό, το αφήνουμε σε άλλους, δεν αφορά το Υπουργείο Εξωτερικών. Αυτό που μας ενδιαφέρει είναι η ευρύτατη εμπειρία του Βατικανού και οι απόψεις και η επιρροή την οποία έχει σε συγκεκριμένες περιοχές. Και δεν σας κρύβω ότι υπήρχε και ένα ειδικό θέμα συζήτησης που αφορούσε τον ευρύτερο χώρο των δυτικών Βαλκανίων και ιδίως τις χώρες, όπως τη Βοσνία Ερζεγοβίνη και την Κροατία, στις οποίες το Βατικανό έχει ρίζες, απόψεις, και πιθανόν θα εκδηλώσει και μια πρωτοβουλία τους επόμενους μήνες.
