Changes to searching the case-law collection by subject matter Judgments, orders and opinions from the Court of Justice of the European Union are now categorised using concepts from a dedicated case-law subject matter authority table. Authority tables are used to harmonise and standardise codes and labels used in certain environments. For EUR-Lex, these codes are used as metadata values that you can use to search, for example by author, document type or subject matter. General subject matter terms will no longer be linked to EU case-law on EUR-Lex. Any searches that include only general subject matter terms will exclude EU case-law, and any searches that include only case-law subject matter terms will only include EU case-law. What does this change mean for you? General use of the website If you use the case-law collection, this change means that the terms that you can use to search for documents have changed and are structured differently. The subject matter terms are also aligned with those used to classify case-law on InfoCuria. Saved searches, RSS feeds and email alerts If you have saved searches that include subject matter and you want EU case-law to be included in the results, you will need to make sure the search criteria do not include general subject matter terms. This also applies to any RSS feeds or email alerts you have set up based on searches that include subject matter. Webservice users If you are a webservice user and your current searches include subject matter, case-law will be excluded from your search results. If you want to search for case-law, you should choose case-law subject matter terms. You can check the terms included in the case-law subject matter authority table to make sure you choose the appropriate terms for your search. The EUR-Lex national transposition measures collection has been enriched National transposition measures are measures adopted by the EU Member States to transpose EU acts – mainly directives – into national law. EUR-Lex publishes information on national transposition measures (title, date of publication, transposed directive/s, etc.). To increase transparency in lawmaking and improve access to law, national authorities are also encouraged to make the text of those measures available on EUR-Lex, in PDF format, as ELI links or as links to national websites. In April 2025, Germany became the 25th Member State to agree to publish the text of their national transposition measures on EUR-Lex. In July 2025, Slovakia became the 26th.
