EU Screening Week – helping Europe know its numbers for heart health

On World Heart Day, 29 September, ESC President Prof. Cecilia Linde, will join EU Commissioner for Health and Animal Welfare, Olivér Várhelyi, at the Annual Meeting of the European Association for the Study of Diabetes (EASD) in Milan to launch the first-ever EU Screening Week, taking place from 28 September to 4 October.

A key component of the Safe Hearts Plan, EU Screening Week encourages people to understand the importance of three numbers – blood pressure, cholesterol and blood sugar – and to act earlier to protect their health.

We are proud to share the efforts of ESC National Cardiac Societies across Europe that are turning the message of EU Screening Week into practical action.
Everyone can take part and spread the word so please support this pivotal moment for heart health everywhere.

New EHJ Dialogues

AI-driven phenotyping in cardiovascular medicine

In this EHJ Dialogue, Prof. Ziad Obermeyer will discuss his Nature study on using deep learning to identify an ECG biomarker for sudden cardiac death. Joined by Profs. Tomasz Guzik and Silvia Priori, the panel will explore what these AI-derived signatures reveal about disease and their clinical implications. On Thursday, 24 September at 17:00 CEST. Register.
