AHEPA Spearheads $250,000 in Scholarships for Hellenic College Holy Cross In celebration of the Feast of the Elevation of the Holy Cross today, the Order of AHEPA, led by Supreme President E. Chris Kaitson, spearheaded $250,000 worth of scholarships for seminarians attending the Hellenic College and Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology in Brookline, Massachusetts. Representing AHEPA on this incredible occasion, Supreme Secretary Themistocles Frangos attended the celebration on behalf of the Supreme President, speaking to the clergy and remarking the significance of the school. Additionally, Supreme Governor Greg Simones and AHEPA Board of Trustees Secretary Alex Geourntas joined the Supreme Secretary for this celebration of faith and philanthropy. The scholarships were made possible by the AHEPA Educational Foundation via funds raised by the Supreme President and through the John George Tsitsos Scholarship Fund - an incredibly generous endowment designed to enable students of Hellenic descent to pursue their educational goals for years to come. Hellas Chapter 102 of Lowell, MA Celebrates Centennial, Hosts Golf Tournament

Supreme President Chris Kaitson began his 2026-2027 visitation schedule with a trip to District 8 to join AHEPA Hellas Chapter 102 of Lowell, Massachusetts as they celebrated their centennial anniversary last weekend. The Brothers celebrated 100 years by hosting their 17th annual golf outing that brought together AHEPA Family members from all over District 8 in celebration of a century of service to the Lowell community. Following the golf tournament, the Supreme President joined chapter members and spoke at a luncheon to commemorate this incredible anniversary. Congratulations to the brothers of AHEPA Hellas Chapter 102! Best wishes for another successful hundred years!

DOP, SOP, & MOA Host Leadership Conference in Washington, DC

Over the weekend, the Daughters of Penelope, Sons of Pericles, and Maids of Athena met in Washington, DC for a leadership conference. Over the weekend, leaders from all three organizations learned about programs and projects that their Orders would be supporting and undertaking throughout the year. The weekend commenced with a reception on the rooftop of AHEPA Global Headquarters in Dupont Circle, where attendees were treated to a dinner of homemade pastitsio, spanakopita, keftedakia and salad, as well as an assortment of Greek desserts. On Saturday, all three orders met at the Washington Hilton to discuss their plans for the year, and how to be effective in their leadership roles. This conference is a way for District leaders from all over the AHEPA Family domain to connect personally with the Grand and Supreme Lodges, get to know their liaisons, and build the foundation for the upcoming year. Congratulations on a successful event!

Dendias said the meeting with Lt General Ashraf Salem Zaher and Vasilis Palmas marked “another step in the deepening of Greek-Egyptian-Cypriot relations,” following a trilateral summit in El Alamein two weeks ago earlier. He stressed that Greece’s relations with Egypt were not directed against any other state. read more The Metropolitan Museum of Art Returns Objects to Greece Artdependence (September 22) The Metropolitan Museum of Art announced that it will return a group of objects to the Hellenic Republic, as part of its ongoing efforts to review the ownership histories of objects in its collections. The return of three works follows new information that emerged through the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office’s ongoing investigations and The Met’s own provenance research into works that came to the Museum from art dealers who have been under investigation, which contributed to determining that they should be returned to Greece. These works comprise a Hellenistic gold and garnet pendant amphora, Middle Helladic terracotta beak-spouted jug, and a Roman marble head of a veiled man from the first half of the first century CE. read more A New Chatbot Wants to Unlock the Secrets in Tattered Ancient Greek Records Wired (September 22) Academic libraries across the globe are stuffed with hundreds of thousands of Ancient Greek papyrus fragments. Though many are so damaged that their meaning is probably lost, scholars have the ability to restore the rest by methodically filling in missing words or phrases. To accelerate that laborious task, researchers have turned to artificial intelligence. On Wednesday, the Austrian Academy of Science will release “the world’s first advanced large language model for Ancient Greek,” developed in partnership with French AI lab Mistral and technology services firm Sail Reply. The model, Apollo, is trained on roughly 600 million historical Greek words drawn from manuscripts, papyri, and inscriptions. read more Türkiye relations to take center stage in Greek PM Mitsotakis' UN agenda Daily Sabah (September 21) Greece plans to use this week's U.N. General Assembly (UNGA) in New York to emphasize its positions on disputes with Türkiye in the Aegean and Eastern Mediterranean while calling for continued dialogue between the NATO allies, Greek Foreign Minister Giorgos Gerapetritis said. Gerapetritis said Athens would convey a message of stability, peace and good-neighborly relations but would not compromise on what it considers matters of sovereignty and sovereign rights.
