'Mazi' with our Sponsors

March 12, 2026
 Kalimera Mazi Readers

Chicago turned blue and white Saturday night. John Calamos got his lifetime achievement award, Konstantinos Argiros sold out the United Center, and somewhere between the mandilia waving and the standing ovations, The Hellenic Initiative raised a million dollars for Greece. Not a bad week to be Greek in America.

Elsewhere: France just put Greece under its nuclear umbrella, a Greek-American diner owner in Bethpage fed 80 hospital workers for free during a blizzard, and the Wall Street Journal profiles the man quietly turning Colgate-Palmolive into an AI company. Greece evacuated over a thousand citizens from the Middle East, Macron and Mitsotakis stood together on a Cyprus airbase, and Turkey responded by sending six F-16s to the occupied north. A Greek woman just became the first female F-16 pilot in Hellenic Air Force history. And Yorgos Lanthimos is headed back to the Oscars.

Greece is never boring, the diaspora is always moving, and there's never a dull week.

A big thank you to the sponsors who make Mazi for a Minute possible each week: North Shore Farms, Limani Restaurant, Divani Collection Hotels, Aria Hotels – La Divina, Sand Castle, Parklane Resort & Spa Limassol, and Ethnikos Kirikas / The National Herald. We couldn't do it without you.

Now grab your kafé and let's get into it.
