Stakeholder Notice: Revised Daily and Weekly Export Sales Reporting ScheduleDue to the closure of USDA on December 24 and 26, 2025, USDA is issuing the following updated schedule for publishing the Weekly Export Sales reports. USDA previously issued a publication schedule for the Weekly Export Sales Reports that were missed due to the lapse in Government funding. The schedule below is an update to the previously published calendar. USDA will release unpublished past Weekly Export Sales Reports based on the following schedule. All Weekly Export Sales reports will be published at 8:30 a.m. ET on the day of their release.
In addition, all Daily Sales under the Export Sales Reporting Program will continue to be published the day following USDA being notified. Please note, these Daily Sales will be included in the appropriate Weekly Export Sales Report. All Daily Sales submitted to USDA after 3:00 p.m. ET will be released the following business day at 9:00 a.m. ET. China: Pistachio Market Update 2025
Demand for pistachios in China has been steadily increasing, driven by rising consumer awareness of their health benefits and the growing popularity of nuts as a snack. This trend has positioned China as one of the largest pistachio importers globally, with most imports coming from the United States and Iran. U.S. pistachios are particularly favored for their superior quality. Chinese consumers tend to prefer large, uniformly colored pistachios with a high split rate. Packaging and branding strongly influence purchasing decisions. Innovative product offerings, convenient packaging, and ongoing consumer education are key to enabling U.S. pistachios capture a larger share of the market.
Germany: Biotechnology and Other New Production Technologies Annual
Genetically-engineered (GE) products are highly politicized in Germany. Despite an openness to innovation, agricultural biotechnology faces significant challenges in Germany due to mixed societal and governmental attitudes. Regulatory frameworks, shaped by EU directives, heavily influence Germany’s approach to biotechnology, including stringent approval processes and trade barriers. The newly formed coalition government, composed of the Christian Democratic Union (CDU) and Social Democratic Party (SPD), has yet to establish a unified position on New Genomic Techniques (NGTs), reflecting internal divisions within the governing parties. Recent studies indicate a gradual shift in public opinion, with some surveys showing increased acceptance of New Genomic Techniques, particularly among older demographics. However, other surveys highlight continued strong consumer demand for labeling and traceability of products derived from these techniques.
Sri Lanka: Biotechnology and Other New Production Technologies Annual
Sri Lanka’s agricultural biotechnology policies remain unchanged. Over the past year, there has been no progress in the approval of its draft Biosafety Act, which establishes a system to protect biodiversity, the environment and human, plant and animal health while minimizing the risks of biotechnology. The draft Act is still with the Legal Draftsman's Department, awaiting further approvals from the Attorney General and the Cabinet.
