On 16 April from 09.30 to 13.00 CEST, the Civil Society Organisations' Group (Group III) of the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) will hold a conference entitled 'Building Together the EU We Want'. The conference will bring together approximately 140 participants, including the Members of Group III and civil society organisations at the European and national levels. The discussions will centre around three topics: The expectations of European citizens vis-à-vis the socio-economic and political challenges facing the EU; The EU we want: a democratic and inclusive EU of social justice and protection; The EU we want: a sustainable economy based on fair green and digital transitions and quality jobs. The event will assemble speakers from a significant number of European civil society networks, who will contribute in a round table format. A keynote speech will be given by Janis Emmanouilidis, Deputy Chief Executive of the European Policy Centre (EPC) and Director of Studies. The written conclusions and recommendations of the conference will feed into an EESC resolution with policy recommendations to the new European Parliament and European Commission, to be adopted in July. More information will be available on the EESC regularly updated website. The conference is open to the public. INVITATION Le 16 avril prochain, de 9 h 30 à 13 heures, heure de Bruxelles, le Groupe des organisations de la société civile (groupe III) du Comité économique et social européen (CESE) organisera une conférence intitulée «Construire ensemble l’UE que nous voulons». La conférence réunira environ 140 participants, dont les membres du groupe III et des organisations de la société civile actives aux niveaux européen et national. Les discussions seront axées sur les trois thèmes suivants : Les attentes des citoyens européens par rapport aux défis socio-économiques et politiques auxquels l’UE est confrontée ; L’Union que nous voulons : une Union de justice et de protection sociales, démocratique et inclusive ; L’Union que nous voulons : une économie durable fondée sur des transitions écologique et numérique justes et des emplois de qualité. La manifestation réunira des intervenants issus d’un grand nombre de réseaux européens de la société civile, qui apporteront leur contribution dans le cadre d’une table ronde. Janis Emmanouilidis, directeur adjoint du European Policy Centre (EPC) et directeur des études, prononcera un discours liminaire. Les conclusions et recommandations écrites de la conférence alimenteront une résolution du CESE, qui sera adoptée en juillet et qui contiendra des recommandations politiques à l’intention du nouveau Parlement européen et de la nouvelle Commission.
