On 18–19 April 2023, EU environment ministers will attend an informal meeting in Stockholm, chaired by Swedish Minister for Climate and the Environment Romina Pourmokhtari.
The meeting will start with three working sessions for the ministers and business representatives on 18 April. It will continue on 19 April with a study visit, including test driving electric heavy goods vehicles and other electric vehicles, and a working lunch on achieving a circular economy for plastics.
Agenda highlights
Opening plenary session
During the opening plenary session, the ministers will discuss cross-sectoral issues that are important for the green transition.
First breakout session
In the first breakout session, the ministers and business representatives will be divided into three groups to share experiences and expectations on enabling conditions, incentives, and collaboration to overcome bottlenecks and achieve the green transition.
Second breakout session
In the second breakout session, the meeting will continue in three groups. The themes of the three sessions are: 1) Enabling conditions for the business community to help halt and reverse biodiversity loss, 2) Enabling conditions for industry to increase materials efficiency, circularity and resilience, and 3) The future of European climate policies – combining climate neutrality with competitiveness and prosperity.
Concluding plenary session
In the concluding plenary session, the ministers will gather to discuss green transition at speed and scale based on the discussions with businesses the day before and recommendations for policy development and collaborative approaches.
