The 55th meeting of the European Economic Area ('EEA') Council took place in Brussels on 23 November.
The EEA Council discussed the overall functioning of the EEA Agreement and held an orientation debate on energy transition and energy security.
The meeting was chaired by Ms Thórdís Kolbrún Reykfjörd Gylfadóttir, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Iceland, and co-chaired by Mr Jan Lipavský, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic, representing the Presidency of the Council of the European Union.
It was attended by Ms Anniken Huitfeldt, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Norway, and Mr Pascal Schafhauser, Ambassador, Mission of the Principality of Liechtenstein, as well as by Commission Vice President Šefčovič and representatives of the European External Action Service.
Political dialogue
The meeting of the EEA Council was preceded by an informal political dialogue with the EEA EFTA states. The discussions focused on Ukraine and the security policy situation in Europe.
