Identify Red Flags From Fake Tech Support
Tech support scammers will stop at nothing to gain access to your personal information. You may receive a phone call or email from someone claiming to work for a company notifying you of a problem with your order or device. They may even use technical terms warning you of risks if immediate action isn’t taken. Follow these steps on the signs to look for to avoid becoming a victim of tech support scams:
Legitimate tech companies won't contact you by phone, email or text message to tell you there's a problem with your computer.
Not experiencing a problem but get an unexpected phone call from someone who says there’s a problem with your computer? Hang up!
Did you get a pop-up alert warning of a security issue? If you get this on your computer, don’t call the number. Real security warnings and messages will never ask you to call a phone number.
