● Council of the EU   19/02/2022 22:40 | Press release | Declaration by the High Representative on behalf of the EU on the situation in eastern Ukraine and the Russian military build-up   Russia’s massive build-up of armed forces in and around Ukraine remains of grave concern. The EU urges Russia to de-escalate by a substantial withdrawal of military forces from the proximity of Ukraine’s borders. This escalation is now compounded by the increase in ceasefire violations along the line of contact in eastern Ukraine in recent days. The EU condemns the use of heavy weaponry and indiscriminate shelling of civilian areas, which constitute a clear violation of the Minsk agreements and international humanitarian law. We commend Ukraine’s posture of restraint in the face of continued provocations and efforts at destabilisation. We support the OSCE Special Representative’s proposal to convene an extraordinary session of the Trilateral Contact Group (TCG) in order to defuse current tensions and call on all participants to the TCG to take part in this much-needed effort to address the current situation diplomatically. The EU is extremely concerned that staged events, as noted recently, could be used as a pretext for possible military escalation. The EU is also witnessing an intensification of information manipulation efforts to support such objectives. In this context, we firmly express our support for the OSCE’s Special Monitoring Mission, whose observers play a key role in de-escalation efforts. This mission must be allowed to carry out its full mandate without restrictions to its activities and freedom of movement to the benefit and security of the people in eastern Ukraine. The EU sees no grounds for allegations coming from the non-governmental controlled areas of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions of a possible Ukrainian attack. The EU urges Russia to engage in meaningful dialogue, diplomacy, show restraint and de-escalate. As stated before, any further military aggression by Russia against Ukraine will have massive consequences and severe costs in response, including restrictive measures coordinated with partners. The EU reiterates its unwavering support for Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity within its internationally recognised borders.

Ενημερωτικό σημείωμα για τη συνάντηση του Πρωθυπουργού Κυριάκου Μητσοτάκη με την Αντιπρόεδρο των Ηνωμένων Πολιτειών Αμερικής, Kamala Harris19 Φεβρουαρίου 2022

Ο Πρωθυπουργός Κυριάκος Μητσοτάκης και η Αντιπρόεδρος των ΗΠΑ, Kamala Harris, συζήτησαν ολόκληρο το φάσμα των ελληνοαμερικανικών σχέσεων που βρίσκονται στο καλύτερο επίπεδο από ποτέ.

Ο Κυριάκος Μητσοτάκης ενημέρωσε την κ. Harris για την πρόθεσή του να φέρει για ψήφιση στη Βουλή τις επόμενες εβδομάδες την τροποποίηση της Συμφωνίας Αμοιβαίας Αμυντικής Συνεργασίας (MDCA) Ελλάδας-ΗΠΑ.

Ακόμη, εξέτασαν τις προοπτικές στενότερης συνεργασίας στον αμυντικό τομέα που διανοίγονται μετά την πρόσφατη νέα τροποποίηση της (MDCA).

Ο Πρωθυπουργός ενημέρωσε την Αντιπρόεδρο για τις εξελίξεις στην Ανατολική Μεσόγειο και υπογράμμισε τον κίνδυνο αποσταθεροποίησης από την κλιμάκωση της τουρκικής προκλητικότητας.

Συζήτησαν ακόμα για τις εξελίξεις στην Ουκρανία.

Ο Κυριάκος Μητσοτάκης ενημέρωσε την Kamala Harris για τα ενεργειακά πρότζεκτ που προωθεί η Ελλάδα στην Ανατολική Μεσόγειο.

Ο Αντιπρόεδρος της Βουλής και Βουλευτής Δυτικής Αττικής, Θανάσης Μπούρας, παραβρέθηκε σήμερα Παρασκευή 18.02.2022 στην κοπή πίτας του Κέντρου Διημέρευσης – Ημερήσιας Φροντίδας για Άτομα με Ειδικές Ανάγκες "Όλοι Εμείς", το οποίο εδρεύει στην Ελευσίνα.

Ο κ. Μπούρας, παίρνοντας το λόγο, ανέφερε μεταξύ άλλων:

«Είναι ιδιαίτερη τιμή για εμένα να παραβρίσκομαι σήμερα στην εκδήλωση για την κοπή της πρωτοχρονιάτικης πίτας του Κέντρου σας. Θεωρώ ότι είναι η υποχρέωση όλων να σταθούμε αρωγοί στις προσπάθειες του «Όλοι Εμείς», που έχει ως στόχο την πλήρη ένταξη των ωφελούμενων ατόμων στην κοινωνία μας, ως ισότιμα μέλη. Αξίζουν θερμά συγχαρητήρια στην Πρόεδρο, κυρία Φαρμάκη Αφροδίτη, για την ευγενική της προσφορά, όχι μόνο στη δημιουργία και στη λειτουργία του κέντρου αλλά και γενικότερα στην κοινωνία.

Θα ήθελα να εκφράσω θερμές ευχές και ευχαριστίες, στους συνεργάτες σας, στους εργαζόμενους σας, στους εθελοντές καθώς και στους γονείς των ωφελούμενων μελών για τη φροντίδα και τη στήριξη του έργου του «Όλοι Εμείς».

Upcoming TTB Outreach Events February 18, 2022 ABLA Civil Penalty Adjusted for Inflation On Thursday, February 17, 2022, we published the latest civil monetary penalty inflation adjustment notification, adjusting the maximum penalty for violations of the Alcoholic Beverage Labeling Act of 1988 (ABLA). Beginning February 17, 2022, the penalty is raised from $21,663 to $22,979, with each day constituting a separate offense. The ABLA requires a government health warning statement to appear on all containers of alcoholic beverages sold or distributed in the United States. It also provides that any person who violates the provisions of the ABLA is subject to a civil penalty of not more than $10,000, with each day constituting a separate offense. However, the Federal Civil Penalties Inflation Adjustment Act of 1990, as amended, requires agencies to make periodic inflation-based adjustments to civil monetary penalties. ABLA Penalty Avoiding Common Errors on Your Labels – Government Health Warning Statement One of the most common problems we see on alcohol beverage labels is errors in the mandatory health warning statement, including punctuation and formatting problems.  The following health warning statement must appear on all alcohol beverages that contain 0.5% or more alcohol by volume:   GOVERNMENT WARNING: (1) According to the Surgeon General, women should not drink alcoholic beverages during pregnancy because of the risk of birth defects.
