9 January 2026 Update Secretary General joins meeting of the Coalition of the Willing On 6 January 2026, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte joined leaders during a meeting of the Coalition of the Willing in Paris. The meeting was co-hosted by the President of France Emmanuel Macron, and the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom Sir Keir Starmer. Press Release 9 January 2026 NATO Secretary General to visit Croatia On Monday 12 January 2026, the NATO Secretary General, Mr Mark Rutte, will visit Zagreb, Croatia where he will have bilateral meetings with the President, Mr Zoran Milanović, the Prime Minister, Mr Andrej Plenković, and the Speaker of Parliament, Mr Gordan Jandroković. Media advisory 13:30 (CET) Joint press conference by the NATO Secretary General with the Prime Minister of Croatia. Media coverage The joint press conference will be streamed live on the NATO website and will be made available to EBU News Exchange and NATO News on YouTube. A transcript of the Secretary General’s remarks, as well as pictures, will be available on the NATO website. Ms Shekerinska will meet with the Minister of State and Foreign Affairs, Mr Paulo Rangel, and the Minister of Defence, Mr Nuno Melo, as well as with the President of NATO Parliamentary Assembly, Mr Marcos Perestrello. On 8 January, she will visit the Naval Striking and Support Forces NATO Headquarters and the NATO Communications & Information Agency. She will also be visiting the Joint Analysis and Lessons Learned Centre. During her visit, she will also deliver a speech at the Catholic University followed by a Q&A session. There will be no media opportunity.
