Συμπεράσματα από τα νησιά του Ιονίου για τη στήριξη της πολιτικής συνοχής της ΕΕ

Διαθέσιμο στα       Δελτίο Τύπου 17-09-2025 REGI   Συμπεράσματα από τα νησιά του Ιονίου για τη στήριξη της πολιτικής συνοχής της ΕΕ       Δεκαμελής αντιπροσωπεία του ΕΚ συναντήθηκε με εθνικές, περιφερειακές και τοπικές αρχές στην Κέρκυρα για να συζητήσει προτεραιότητες της περιφερειακής ανάπτυξης και επενδυτικές πολιτικές. Από τις 15 έως τις 17 Σεπτεμβρίου, αντιπροσωπεία της Επιτροπής Περιφερειακής Ανάπτυξης (REGI) βρέθηκε την Κέρκυρα, την έδρα της Περιφέρειας Ιονίων Νήσων, όπου συναντήθηκε με εθνικές, τοπικές και περιφερειακές αρχές και πραγματοποίησε επισκέψεις σε σειρά έργων που χρηματοδοτήθηκαν από ευρωπαϊκά ταμεία. Στόχος των ευρωβουλευτών ήταν η αξιολόγηση της υλοποίησης της χρηματοδότησης της πολιτικής συνοχής της ΕΕ, με ιδιαίτερη έμφαση στις νησιωτικές περιοχές, με την αποστολή να παρέχει τελικά στην αντιπροσωπεία πολύτιμες πληροφορίες σχετικά με τα μοναδικά χαρακτηριστικά και τις προκλήσεις που αυτές αντιμετωπίζουν. Η αντιπροσωπεία, με πρόεδρο τον Marcos ROS SEMPERE (Σοσιαλιστές, Ισπανία), θα συναντηθεί με τον Περιφερειάρχη Ιονίων Νήσων Ιωάννη Τρεπεκλή, τον δήμαρχο Κεντρικής Κέρκυρας Στέφανο Πουλημένο, δημάρχους από άλλα νησιά της περιοχής, τον Υφυπουργό Θαλάσσιας Πολιτικής και Νησιωτικής Πολιτικής Στέφανο Γκίκα, αξιωματούχους του ελληνικού Υπουργείου Περιβάλλοντος και Ενέργειας και του Υπουργείου Εθνικής Οικονομίας και Οικονομικών και διαχειριστές του προγράμματος περιφερειακής ανάπτυξης των Ιονίων Νήσων. Οι ευρωβουλευτές επισκέφθηκαν έργα που χρηματοδοτήθηκαν από το Ευρωπαϊκό Ταμείο Περιφερειακής Ανάπτυξης και την πρωτοβουλία LEADER, συμπεριλαμβανομένης της αποκατάστασης και συντήρησης ιστορικών χώρων και μιας καινοτόμου εγκατάστασης παραγωγής ελαιόλαδου. Συζήτησαν επίσης τις τρέχουσες ανάγκες και προκλήσεις των νησιωτικών περιοχών, σε συναντήσεις με το INSULEUR - το Δίκτυο Νησιωτικών Εμπορικών και Βιομηχανικών Επιμελητηρίων και το Δίκτυο Ελληνικών Μικρών Νησιών. Δηλώσεις Ο επικεφαλής της αντιπροσωπείας κ. Ros Sempere δήλωσε μετά την ολοκλήρωση του έργου της αντιπροσωπείας: «Είχαμε μια εξαιρετικά παραγωγική αποστολή στα Ιόνια Νησιά. Η αντιπροσωπεία μας είχε την ευκαιρία να δει επιτόπου τη στήριξη της τοπικής ανάπτυξης από την πολιτική συνοχής της ΕΕ και να προσδιορίσει τις ειδικές ανάγκες και προκλήσεις που αντιμετωπίζουν οι νησιωτικές περιοχές. Τα Ιόνια Νησιά έχουν επιδείξει ισχυρή προσήλωση στη βιώσιμη ανάπτυξη, την προστασία του περιβάλλοντος και τη διατήρηση του πολιτισμού. Ωστόσο, η περιοχή αντιμετωπίζει επίσης σαφείς προκλήσεις που πρέπει να αντιμετωπιστούν καλύτερα στο μέλλον - μεταξύ άλλων την οικονομικά προσιτή και βιώσιμη στέγαση, τη διαχείριση αποβλήτων και λυμάτων και τη λειψυδρία. Η επίσκεψή μας επιβεβαιώνει επίσης την ισχυρή δέσμευση της Επιτροπής Περιφερειακής Ανάπτυξης του Ευρωπαϊκού Κοινοβουλίου να μην αφήσει καμία περιφέρεια στο περιθώριο - και ότι ο νησιωτικός χαρακτήρας δεν αντιμετωπίζεται ως μειονέκτημα, αλλά ως στρατηγική διάσταση που αξίζει στοχευμένη και αποτελεσματική στήριξη από την Ευρωπαϊκή Ένωση.» Ολοκληρώνοντας, ο κ. Ros Sempere εξέφρασε «την πλήρη δέσμευση της επιτροπής REGI να εργαστεί κατά τους προσεχείς μήνες για την επίτευξη μιας συμφωνίας για στιβαρό ευρωπαϊκό προϋπολογισμό, καθώς και για επαρκή πολυεπίπεδη διακυβέρνηση των ταμείων της πολιτικής συνοχής για το επόμενο πολυετές δημοσιονομικό πλαίσιο, 2028-34» Σύσταση της αντιπροσωπείας του ΕΚ Εκτός από τον επικεφαλής της αντιπροσωπείας, στην αποστολή συμμετείχαν οι κατωτέρω ευρωβουλευτές. From 15 to 17 September 2025, MEPs Hristo Petrov (Renew, BG) and Sabrina Repp (S&D, DE) from the Committee on Culture and Education were in Chemnitz (Germany), 2025 European Capital of Culture (ECoC). They met with the ECoC Chemnitz director, Andrea Pier, and the city’s mayor, Sven Schulze, to discuss the programme and financing of the activities, as well as the event’s legacy. The MEPs gathered information on the main lessons learned and challenges faced by Chemnitz, such as long-term funding. They also highlighted the need to involve the private sector, to generate a sustainable regional impact. The delegation visited exhibitions showcasing Chemnitz’s industrial and cultural history, and several cultural sites. The Stadtwirtschaft, one example, is a former city cleaning facility being developed into a creative economy hub, with offices, workshops and studios. Other highlights included the Garagen Campus, where citizens helped to build the concept, and the Stadtteilpark am Pleißenbach, a former freight yard now revitalised as an open space and riverside bike path. Chemnitz is using the opportunity offered by being European Capital of Culture to bring transformation by connecting various sections of society, including the cultural and creative industries, business, regional authorities, and the tourism sector. I believe that what you have achieved here must be seen. I will do all I can to make sure people in my country and in Europe hear about it.” “Every Capital of Culture is different. In the Culture Committee we are already discussing how we can further develop the idea from 2034 onwards. Importantly, regional funding must not be neglected. Chair of the delegation, Tilly Metz (Greens/EFA, LU) said: “Even today, more than half of the world’s population still lacks access to essential health services, making health inequalities one of the defining challenges of the 21st century. Behind these figures lie urgent human realities: insufficient access to basic care, underfunded infrastructure, medicine shortages caused by the abrupt withdrawal of external funding, and an excessive dependence on imported vaccines. Global health must be guided by solidarity, not profit. We need knowledge-sharing, truly inclusive governance, and stronger international coordination in public health in order to prevent future crises. The EU has a responsibility to support local health systems, invest in vaccine production capacity and supply chains, and promote a fairer model—one that puts people first. In this spirit, joint Senegal and EU efforts to strengthen regional vaccine manufacturing - through projects like the Institut Pasteur de Dakar’s new MADIBA facility - are a powerful example of how local innovation and international cooperation can build lasting health sovereignty in Africa.” Background The SANT delegation led by Tilly Metz (Greens/EFA, LU), SANT Vice-Chair, and including Laurent Castillo, (EPP, FR), Bartosz Arłukowicz (EPP, PL), Catarina Martins (The Left/PT) and Leire Pajín (S&D, ES), was in Dakar, Senegal, between 15 and 17 September 2025. The purpose of the mission was to discuss current challenges of the Senegalese health system and how the EU can further support the country to enhance public health, boost research and development in the sector and expand vaccine production to make the continent less reliant on imported vaccines. During their mission, Members met with the Chair of the Committee on Chair of the Committee on Health, Population, Social Affairs and National Solidarity of the National Assembly of Senegal, and with the Minister of Health and Social Action. Members also visited the Institut Pasteur de Dakar (IPD), which is home to a functioning vaccine production for yellow fever since the 1930s. The European Investment Bank concluded in 2022 a €75 million financing agreement with IPD to support the construction of the new MADIBA vaccine manufacturing facility.
