| Meet our members | Corina Murafa Air quality, waste management, access to clean and affordable energy, upholding clear climate targets that can guide decisions everywhere in Europe, just transition mechanisms including in sectors often neglected such as the agri-food systems - all of these are topics that European citizens and civil society organisation care deeply about. Corina Murafa mentions also that the Europe Sustainable Development Report is a gem in terms of information and a rigorous data-based approach to development, but it needs to permeate corporate sustainability strategies, not just government reporting and academic research.

| The implications of land take, urban sprawl and soil sealing for people, businesses and the environment The EESC advocates for sustainable development through policies like no net land take, aiming to balance economic progress with environmental preservation. Concerns are raised about land grabbing fueled by EU policies, particularly in bioeconomy, trade, and agriculture, impacting family farms. The EESC calls for protective measures, responsible land governance, and a circular economy to prevent soil degradation. The committee stresses the importance of the Common Agricultural Policy in preserving access to and sustainable use of agricultural land, urging action to increase farm earnings and prevent land abandonment for vibrant rural communities. 💬Read more

| Accelerating the financing of the circular economy in climate and biodiversity strategies The circular economy offers solutions to climate change and biodiversity loss at the source. It's time to mobilise financing to accelerate the circular economy. While sustainable tools like green bonds and impact investing can support circularity, unlocking the circular economy's financing potential remains a challenge. Collaboration between the circular community, policy-makers and financial institutions is vital for progress in financing the circular transition, especially as perceptions of risks persist. 🎬Video recording |
