Join us for our first Salon of 2023 with renowned costume designer Ellen Mirojnick! Ellen is one of the most sought-after designers in her field and has worked on incredible projects such as Netflix’s Bridgerton and The Greatest Showman. In this fascinating conversation, she will talk about her career journey and the creative process behind-the-scenes of past projects followed by a Q&A session moderated by our Director & Senior Curator Elizabeth Semmelhack.

Hands-On Collection
Enhance your visit with multisensory and tactile experiences through our Hands-on collection. During Black History Month, learn about the invention of the lasting machine by Jan Ernst Matzeliger, hold a pair of Timberlands made for Shaquille O'Neal, and examine a pair of crocheted sneakers by Nigel John.

Family Day Fun
Celebrate Family Day on Monday, February 20 with us! Throughout the Museum, we're highlighting Black designers and creatives from our collection all month long as part of Black History Month. Create a family tree, build a shoe puzzle, make your own 3D-printed shoe, play iSpy around the galleries and so much more in our Arts & Crafts Zone. Enter to win a limited edition colouring book.

Community Tours
This Sunday, February 5 at 1:30 pm, our Education Assistant Angie Ma will leading an extra Community Tour focused on Black designers and shoes worn by prominent figures that are in our collection for Black History Month.
Added tours! Every Sunday from February 19 to March 19 we will host an additional Community Tour at 1:30 pm. These 20-minute tours highlight individual shoes and themes created by our docents. Free with general admission.
