Full recap via Greek Reporter Event coverage via The National Herald: Kick off | Day 2 | Grand Banquet & Recap Video Gallery (Via CosmosPhilly) AHEPA Responds to Call to Action, Opens Emergency Relief Fund Shortly after concluding business at our Athens Supreme Convention, an onslaught of wildfires devastated Greece. Supreme President Jimmy Kokotas immediately opened the Emergency Relief Fund and called on Ahepans from across the globe to mobilize. As they have in the past, Ahepans heeded the call and stepped up to assist in any way possible. As monetary donations continue to pour in, Ahepans also have volunteered their time and resources by donating bottles of water or by contributing to actual fire relief. Stateside, Hurricane Ida came barreling through the Gulf, leaving devastation in her wake in Louisiana and causing severe flooding and tornado damage in the mid-Atlantic up to parts of New England. AHEPA is working with the District 16 AHEPA family to determine how we can assist those affected by the hurricane to help them recover as quickly as possible. Click Here to make a tax-deductible Donation to the AHEPA Emergency Fund AHEPA Meets with Greek Consul General to New York Supreme President Jimmy Kokotas met with Consul General of Greece to New York Dr. Konstantinos Koutras and Consul of Greece to New York Spyridoula-Ioanna Zochiou, August 25. They recapped the successful AHEPA Supreme Convention that was held in Athens in July and discussed the state of U.S.-Greece relations. Supreme President Kokotas also thanked Consul Zochiou for her service as her term came to an end. AHEPA Congratulates Senator Robert Menendez The Order of AHEPA congratulates U.S. Senator Bob Menendez (D-NJ), chairman, Senate Foreign Relations Committee, for accolades he received from the Greek and Cypriot governments during his visit to the two countries in August, announced Supreme President Jimmy Kokotas. President of the Hellenic Republic Katerina Sakellaropoulou awarded Senator Menendez with the Grand Cross of the Order of Honor, Greece’s highest civilian honor, Aug. 27, 2021.  In Cyprus, President of the Republic of Cyprus Nicos Anastasiades bestowed Senator Menendez with the Grand Collar of the Order of Makarios III, Cyprus’ highest honor, Aug. 30, 2021. In acceptance remarks delivered in Greece, Senator Menendez conveyed his gratitude to Greek and Cypriot American organizations, including AHEPA, for strengthening relations between Greece, Cyprus, and the United States. “We sincerely congratulate Senator Menendez on the distinguished honors he received from the Greek and Cypriot governments,” Supreme President Kototas said. “He is a steadfast champion of our foreign policy priorities and a true philhellene.
