In the context of the exponential growth of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19), the President of the European Parliament has announced a number of measures to safeguard Parliament's core activities.
The current precautionary measures adopted by the European Parliament to contain the spread of COVID-19 do not affect work on legislative priorities. Core activities are reduced, but maintained to ensure that the institution's legislative, budgetary, scrutiny functions are maintained. The meetings will be with remote and in situ participation for Members. Other participants are invited to follow the meeting through webstreaming.
Following these decisions, the next ANIT Committee meeting will take place on 16 June, 9.00-12.00 and 13.45-16.15 and on 17 June, 9.00-12.00 and 13.45-16.15 in room ANTALL 6Q2.
Further meetings are scheduled as follows: 14 July, 9.00-12.00, 13.45-16.15

On 25 May, INTA will hold an exchange of views with the Commission on the request for a waiver from certain provisions of the TRIPS Agreement for the prevention, containment and treatment of COVID-19 within the broader framework of increasing production capacity for vaccines.
The discussion at the World Trade Organisation on the request by a number of countries to waive intellectual property protections under the Agreement on Trade-Related Aspects of Intellectual Property Rights (TRIPS) for COVID-19 vaccines has recently gained momentum with the United States' decision to support the waiver. The INTA committee will welcome the Director-General of the World Trade Organisation (WTO), Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, for an exchange of views on 20 May 2021, from 11:00 to 12:15.
The discussion will likely focus on the numerous on-going negotiations in the WTO context in the run-up to the Twelfth Ministerial Conference later this year, WTO reform as well as trade and health.

During its committee meeting on the 27 May, the CULT Committee held an exchange of views on an own-initiative report (INI) recommending ways towards recovery and deep transformation of the media and audio-visual sectors in Europe. During the exchange of views following the presentation of the draft report, questions were put forward to experts who prepared an accompanying research commissioned by Policy Department B at the European Parliament.
