Highlights - Hearing on the New Pact on Migration and Asylum - Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs

On 27 May 2021, the LIBE Committee will hold a public hearing on the mechanisms proposed in the New Pact on Migration and Asylum. The New Pact was presented by the European Commission in September 2020 and aims at delivering a fresh start on EU migration and asylum policies.

The hearing will be composed of two sessions. The first one will focus on the Solidarity Mechanisms, while the second session on the procedures at the borders and, in particular, on the screening procedure and on the asylum and
return border procedure.

The objective of the hearing is to listen to Member States, institutional representatives, experts and civil society on the Commission's proposal in preparation of the upcoming negotiations with the Council.

In the context of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19), the President of the European Parliament announced a number of measures to contain the spread of epidemic and to safeguard Parliament's core activities.

The current precautionary measures do not affect work on legislative priorities.

The meetings will be with remote participation for Members (being able to view and listen to proceedings, ask for the floor and intervene in the meeting). Other participants are invited to follow the meetings through webstreaming.

Following these decisions, the next AGRI Committee meetings will take place in Brussels via videoconference on:

World Economic Outlook: Divergent Recoveries Global prospects are looking better one year into the pandemic, albeit highly uncertain. The latest World Economic Outlook (WEO) places growth at 6% for 2021, compared to 2020's unprecedented contraction of -3.3%. But recovery is by and large vaccine-dependent and the lack of access to vaccines is making recovery hard to imagine for some countries, while others are well on their way. AHEPA Calls for President Biden to Recognize the Greek Genocide

On this eve of the Day of Remembrance for the victims of the Greek Genocide from the Pontus Region of Asia Minor, AHEPA calls on President Joseph Biden, Jr. to recognize the Greek Genocide, the systematic extermination of between one million and 1.5 million indigenous Greek minority of the Ottoman Empire, announced Supreme President George G. Horiates.   “This year, we commemorate the 102-year Pontian Greek Genocide as part of the larger Greek and Christian Genocide where hundreds of thousands of Pontian Greeks were murdered. More than one million more were forced to seek refuge in Greece as their homes and property were confiscated, not to mention the destruction of Greek Orthodox churches in the area. Ottoman Turkey endeavored to destroy Hellenism – its history, culture, and language. They will never be able to do so because their identity and heritage is ingrained in Pontos.   “AHEPA commends the U.S. government’s rightful recognition of the Armenian Genocide with President Biden’s statement last month and the overwhelming passage of the Armenian Genocide resolution by both chambers of the U.S. Congress in 2019. Those congressional resolutions have recognized a campaign of genocide against Greeks by citing the United States’ history of providing relief to ‘the survivors of the campaign of genocide against Armenians, Greeks, Assyrians, Chaldeans, Syriacs Arameans, Maronites, and other Christians.’ Further, in 2007, the International Association of Genocide Scholars affirmed that the ‘Ottoman campaign against Christian minorities of the Empire constituted a genocide,’ including Pontian and Anatolian Greeks. "It is time the U.S. government recognizes the Greek Genocide that occurred 1914 to 1923 as a matter of affirming a historical truth and upholding a commitment to human rights as well a matter of education to prevent future atrocities from occurring,” Supreme President Horiates said.   To learn more, please visit http://greek-genocide.net/index.php/overview.

Η ΔΛ Gallery παρουσιάζει το Σάββατο 29 Μαΐου 2021 την ατομική έκθεση φωτογραφίας της Ρέας Παπαδοπούλου «DARK TREΕ».


Στις όχθες του Κηφισού, εκεί που κάποτε ήταν ο ελαιώνας και ο λαχανόκηπος της Αθήνας, τώρα φύονται αείλανθοι, τα δέντρα ζιζάνια των διαταραγμένων εδαφών. Η χωροθέτηση της βαριάς βιομηχανίας κατά μήκος του ποταμού Κηφισού τον 19ο αιώνα και η αστική επέκταση του 20ο αιώνα έβαλε τέλος στον απέραντο αυτόν κήπο στον οποίο αναφέρονται ιστορικοί και περιηγητές της Αθήνας.

Τώρα μεγάλα φορτηγά οργώνουν τους χωματόδρομους αδειάζοντας προϊόντα σε αποθήκες και εργοστάσια. Τα λίγα σημάδια που μένουν να δηλώνουν την ύπαρξη του άλλου τοπίου χάνονται στην σκόνη και στον θόρυβο της μέρας. Την νύχτα όμως ο τόπος μεταμορφώνεται, ο μακρινός ορίζοντας χάνεται και το σκοτάδι αφήνει να φανούν οι σκιές παλιού και καινούργιου πράσινου, οι πέτρινες αποθήκες και οι μικρές νησίδες κατοικίας ανάμεσα στο άναρχο βιομηχανικό τοπίο. Σύμφωνα με τους χάρτες του Kaupert το 1874 ο ελαιώνας σωζόταν ανέπαφος. Ανάμεσα στα 170.000 δέντρα καταγράφεται και ένα βυρσοδεψείο, ίσως το πρώτο βιομηχανικό κτίριο που είχε ήδη χτιστεί.

ΕΡΩΤΗΣΗ

Προς τον Υπουργό Οικονομικών κ. Χ. Σταϊκούρα

ΘΕΜΑ: Να προστατευτούν τα συμφέροντα του Δημοσίου και των Εργαζομένων στα ΕΛ.ΠΕ. ΑΕ




Μέλη της ΚΟ του Κινήματος Αλλαγής με επικεφαλής τον αρμόδιο Τομεάρχη Ενέργειας και Περιβάλλοντος Γιώργο Αρβανιτίδη κατέθεσαν σήμερα ερώτηση προς τον Υπουργό Οικονομικών κ. Χ. Σταϊκούρα σχετικά με την προστασία των συμφερόντων του Δημοσίου και των εργαζομένων στα ΕΛ.ΠΕ. ΑΕ.

Στο κείμενο της ερώτησής τους οι βουλευτές αναφέρουν :

Η Κυβέρνηση της ΝΔ με πρόσχημα τις αναγκαίες αλλαγές στην εταιρική διακυβέρνηση των ΑΕ για την προώθηση της ισότητας των φύλων στην διοίκησή τους (ν.4706 /2020) προωθεί από το «παράθυρο» συνολικότερες αλλαγές στον τρόπο συγκρότησης του Διοικητικού Συμβουλίου των ΕΛ.ΠΕ. ΑΕ. Συγκεκριμένα, ενώ το Καταστατικό της εταιρείας προβλέπει τον ορισμό του 13μελούς Διοικητικού Συμβουλίου με επιμερισμό των μελών του ανάμεσα στο Δημόσιο, τους Μετόχους (μεγάλους και μικρότερους) και τους Εργαζομένους, με αναφορά σε συγκεκριμένους αριθμούς αντίστοιχα (7-2-2-2), προωθείται η κατάργηση αυτής της πρόνοιας προκειμένου να μπορούν να επιλέγονται τα μέλη του νέου 11μελούς Δ.Σ. ενιαία, χωρίς διασφάλιση των δικαιωμάτων του Δημοσίου και των Εργαζομένων, σε μια σημαντική επιχείρηση για την ελληνική οικονομία, όπως τα ΕΛ.ΠΕ. ΑΕ.

Στην ουσία η Κυβέρνηση καταργεί τη συμφωνία των Μετόχων του 2003 για τα ΕΛΠΕ-που διασφάλιζε τα συμφέροντα του Δημοσίου-και παραδίδει την επιχείρηση στον πλήρη έλεγχο του ιδιώτη μετόχου και μάλιστα χωρίς κανένα αντάλλαγμα, ενώ ταυτόχρονα καταργεί και τους εκπροσώπους των Εργαζόμενων στο Διοικητικό Συμβούλιο της Επιχείρησης. Το Κίνημα Αλλαγής είχε εγκαίρως προειδοποιήσει ότι δεν θα ανεχτεί καμία απεμπόληση των δικαιωμάτων του Δημοσίου και των Εργαζομένων, καταγγέλλοντας αυτές τις σκανδαλώδεις μεθοδεύσεις και ζητώντας να σταματήσει άμεσα αυτή η διαδικασία που γίνεται στο όνομα της… προσαρμογής της εταιρείας στη νέα νομοθεσία.
