Prime Minister Justin Trudeau meets with Edmonton Mayor Amarjeet Sohi
The Prime Minister and the Mayor discussed the importance of Indigenous-led housing in Edmonton, and how the city could best direct funding from the $4 billion that will be made available through the upcoming Urban, Rural and Northern Indigenous Housing Strategy. They also discussed affordable housing and Edmonton’s broader housing needs, and talked about how federal funding can help bridge the housing gap for people in the city, the province, and across the country.
The two leaders agreed that all orders of government must work together on reconciliation with Indigenous Peoples, public transit, net-zero emissions, homelessness, substance abuse, and supporting mental health.
Prime Minister Trudeau and Mayor Sohi looked forward to remaining in close contact and committed to continue the effective partnership between the Government of Canada and the City of Edmonton.
New Sepsis Core Elements to Help Patients Receive Faster & Better Care In the U.S., one in three people who dies in a hospital had sepsis during that hospitalization. Sepsis is the body’s extreme response to an infection. However, according to CDC’s latest survey, only half of U.S. hospitals provide dedicated time for sepsis program leaders to manage programs. These data highlight opportunities for hospitals to ensure effective teams and resources are in place to quickly identify and treat sepsis to save more lives. Today, CDC is releasing the first-ever Hospital Sepsis Program Core Elements to help all hospitals, regardless of size or location, implement, monitor, and optimize sepsis programs and improve survival rates. The development of a multi-disciplinary sepsis program is critical to monitoring and improving the management and recovery of patients with sepsis. Sepsis programs have been associated with reductions in hospital mortality, length of stay, and healthcare costs. September is Sepsis Awareness Month and CDC encourages patients and healthcare professionals to share Get Ahead of Sepsis resources and to learn how to protect themselves, their loved ones, and their patients from sepsis. Be sure to follow official CDC social media pages on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn and YouTube to stay tuned for more information about Sepsis Awareness Month 2023 using the hashtag #SAM2023. | |||
