2022 ANNUAL REVIEW AND FINANCIAL REPORT |
The Annual Review 2022 details how the Bank stepped up its investment last year and was particularly vigorous in support of Ukraine.
The EBRD balanced its work in Ukraine with meeting key objectives in other areas, such as tackling climate change, fostering inclusion and building digital capacity in the economies where it operates.
Crucially, green investments totalled 50 per cent of Annual Bank Investment (ABI) for 2022, in line with the EBRD’s goal of being a majority green bank by 2025.
The Annual Review is available both as a microsite and as a print summary report in PDF.
In the face of a challenging global economic environment, the EBRD’s prudently managed balance sheet demonstrated resilience and the Bank’s financial position remains strong.
The Financial Report 2022 includes the approved and audited financial statements (required to be submitted under Article 27 of the Agreement Establishing the Bank and Section 13 of its By-Laws), as well as additional reporting and disclosures on the EBRD’s risk management, corporate governance and structure.
The report is available as a PDF.
2022 SUSTAINABILITY REPORT AND GRI REPORT |
The Sustainability Report 2022 explores the many ways in which the EBRD worked over the course of the year to prepare its regions for a stronger, more resilient and sustainable future.
It details how the Bank responded to multiple crises, including the impact of the invasion of Ukraine, and the global emergencies of climate change and biodiversity loss.
In 2022, the EBRD provided its largest ever volume of green finance.
Since 1 January 2023, all new EBRD investments have been aligned with the mitigation and adaptation goals of the Paris Agreement on climate change.
The GRI Report 2022 - Sustainability Disclosures provides our stakeholders with a comprehensive overview of the EBRD's approach to environmental, social and governance issues.
The contents of this report were guided by consultation with stakeholders and staff to assess what information they deemed material. The 2022 edition also covers topics that are not widely considered material, but which give a fuller picture of our approach to sustainability.
More information on the environmental and social impact of the Bank’s investment and policy engagement activities is available in our Sustainability Report 2022.
This special event will launch the EBRD’s latest Sustainability Report. It demonstrates how green growth is central to the Bank's activities and highlights the many ways in which we create impact and demonstrate leadership across key sustainability areas.
The role and impact of the EBRD as the largest institutional investor and an equity partner in Central Asia is significant.
EBRD President Odile Renaud-Basso will take questions at the end of the Annual Meeting from accredited journalists. The event will be moderated by Managing Director of Communications Richard Porter. Journalists will be able to ask questions from within the room, or via our online platform.
The competitiveness of many emerging economies, particularly in Central Asia, is being hampered by underdeveloped value chains despite the region’s rich trading history.
The much-anticipated EBRD Regional Economic Prospects will be back in the new panel discussion format for a special EBRD Annual Meeting 2023 edition. The interactive discussion will cover the latest economic forecasts for the regions where the EBRD invests. EBRD Chief Economist Beata Javorcik will discuss with outstanding regional experts the extraordinary challenges that policymakers are confronted with in the world of relentless inflationary pressures and repeated economic crises. The accompanying document will be published on the same day.
