The labour market in rural areas

On 15 September 2022, the EESC's Labour Market Observatory (LMO) will hold a remote public hearing on ''The labour market in rural areas''. The EU's rural areas are home to 137 million people representing almost 30% of its population and over 80% of its territory. The hearing will examine labour market developments and trends in rural areas and the EU's actions in this area. Through a debate with civil society organisations and socio-professional stakeholders, the event will look at the current labour market opportunities and challenges in rural areas and discuss current recommendations in the field. Speakers due to attend include representatives of the European institutions, Eurofound, the International Labour Organization and the EESC, as well as the social partners and other civil society organisations. Le 15 septembre 2022, l’Observatoire du marché du travail (OMT) du CESE organisera une audition publique à distance sur le thème du ''Le marché du travail dans les zones rurales''. Le 15 septembre 2022, l’Observatoire du marché du travail du CESE organisera une audition publique à distance sur le thème «Le marché du travail dans les zones rurales».Les zones rurales de l’UE abritent 137 millions de personnes, soit près de 30 % de sa population et plus de 80 % de son territoire. L’audition vise à passer en revue les évolutions et les tendances du marché du travail dans les zones rurales et les actions de l’UE dans ce domaine. Dans le cadre d’un débat avec des organisations de la société civile et des acteurs socio-professionnels, l’événement sera l’occasion d’examiner les opportunités et les défis actuels du marché du travail dans les zones rurales et de discuter des recommandations actuelles en la matière. Parmi les intervenants prévus figurent des représentants des institutions européennes, d’Eurofound, de l'Organisation Internationale du Travail et du CESE, ainsi que des partenaires sociaux et d’autres organisations de la société civile. Australia milk production is also down (-7.9%) as well as U.K. (-0.9%) while US production is slightly up (+0.2%). The main topics were European assistance to the Ukrainian health system, vaccination and vaccine hesitancy, the fight against cancer and the conclusions of the Oncology Conference hosted in July by the Czech Presidency of the Council of the European Union.

Statement by the North Atlantic Council concerning the malicious cyber activities against Albania 1.      We stand in solidarity with Albania following the recent cyber attack on its national information infrastructure. Allies acknowledge the statements by Albania and other Allies attributing the responsibility for the cyber attack to the Government of Iran. We strongly condemn such malicious cyber activities designed to destabilise and harm the security of an Ally, and disrupt the daily lives of citizens. NATO and Allies support Albania in strengthening its cyber defence capabilities to withstand and repel such malicious cyber activities in the future. 2.      Malign actors seek to degrade our critical infrastructure, interfere with our government services, extract intelligence, steal intellectual property and impede our military activities. Allies are committed to protecting their critical infrastructure, building resilience and bolstering their cyber defences. We will continue raising our guard against such malicious cyber activities in the future, and support each other to deter, defend against and counter the full spectrum of cyber threats, including by considering possible collective responses. 3.      We promote a free, open, peaceful and secure cyberspace. We pursue efforts to enhance stability and reduce the risks of conflict by promoting respect for international law, and the voluntary norms of responsible state behaviour in cyberspace, as recognised by all members of the United Nations. We call on all States to respect their international commitments to upholding a norms-based approach to cyberspace. Déclaration du Conseil de l'Atlantique nord concernant les actes de cybermalveillance ayant ciblé l’Albanie 1.      Nous sommes solidaires de l’Albanie après la cyberattaque menée récemment contre son infrastructure nationale d'information. Les Alliés prennent acte des déclarations de l’Albanie et d’autres Alliés attribuant la responsabilité de cette cyberattaque au gouvernement iranien. Nous condamnons fermement de tels actes de cybermalveillance, qui visent à déstabiliser un Allié, à porter atteinte à sa sécurité et à perturber la vie quotidienne de ses citoyens. L’OTAN et les Alliés aident l’Albanie à renforcer ses capacités de cyberdéfense afin qu’elle soit en mesure, à l’avenir, de résister à de tels actes et de les repousser. 2.      Des acteurs malveillants cherchent à endommager nos infrastructures d’importance critique, à perturber le fonctionnement de nos services publics, à dérober des renseignements, à voler des contenus soumis à la propriété intellectuelle ou à entraver nos activités militaires. Les Alliés se sont engagés à protéger leurs infrastructures nationales critiques, à accroître leur résilience et à renforcer leurs moyens de cyberdéfense. Nous continuerons, à l’avenir, d’être vigilants face à de tels actes de cybermalveillance, et de nous soutenir mutuellement pour assurer la dissuasion et la défense et ainsi lutter contre l’éventail complet des cybermenaces, y compris en examinant les possibilités de réponses collectives. 3.      Nous nous attachons à promouvoir un cyberespace libre, ouvert, pacifique et sûr, et nous poursuivons les efforts visant à renforcer la stabilité et à réduire les risques de conflit en encourageant le respect du droit international et des normes volontaires de comportement responsable des États dans le cyberespace que reconnaissent tous les membres des Nations Unies. Nous appelons tous les États à tenir leurs engagements internationaux à respecter une approche du cyberespace fondée sur des normes.
