Statement by the Prime Minister on International Day of the Girl

The Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau, today issued the following statement on the International Day of the Girl:
“On the International Day of the Girl, we celebrate the power and potential of girls in Canada and around the world. The world is home to more than 1.1 billion girls – they are the leaders, entrepreneurs, and changemakers of today and tomorrow. We are reminded that when girls get the support and opportunities they need, they can create a better world for themselves and future generations.
“This year’s United Nations theme – Digital generation. Our generation. – celebrates the trailblazing, tech-savvy girls who are making a lasting impact across the country and the globe, amplifying underrepresented voices, and paving the way for other girls to follow in their footsteps.
“Around the world, girls are less likely than boys to own and use devices, limiting their access to tech-related skills and jobs – but this gender divide goes beyond the digital space and connectivity. Today, girls in Canada are more likely to experience cyberbullying, family violence, and other forms of violence than boys, which leads to lower levels of mental health. Many of these challenges have been amplified by the COVID-19 pandemic, as young Canadians were asked to stay home, distance from their friends, and adapt to online learning. At a crucial age in their lives, they have made historic sacrifices to keep others and their communities safe.
“On this day, we resolve to not only shine a light on these challenges, but to take concrete action to ensure women and girls have the tools they need to succeed, which includes digital connectivity, both here at home and around the world. That’s why the Government of Canada is continuing to work to end gender-based violence, invest in reliable and high-speed Internet, support girls’ pursuit of careers in STEM fields and skilled trades, and increase their political participation and leadership.
“On the international stage, Canada continues to engage and work with our partners to address gender inequalities. Earlier this year, I participated in the Generation Equality Forum and announced nearly $180 million to advance gender equality around the world. This funding will support activities that address social and institutional barriers to girls’ education, including developing digital tools to deliver programs to girls during the pandemic.
“The International Day of the Girl is an important part of Women’s History Month celebrations in Canada. Today, we recommit ourselves to lifting up women and girls in Canada and globally, and building a world where they can all feel safe and empowered – because nothing should stand in the way of girls fulfilling their dreams.”

« En cette Journée internationale de la fille, nous célébrons le pouvoir et le potentiel des filles au Canada et dans le monde entier. Le monde compte plus de 1,1 milliard de filles : elles sont les entrepreneures, les agentes du changement et les leaders d’aujourd’hui et de demain. Cette journée nous rappelle que lorsque nous offrons aux filles le soutien et les possibilités dont elles ont besoin, elles peuvent créer un monde meilleur pour elles‑mêmes et pour les générations futures.
« Le thème de cette année – Génération numérique, notre génération – a été choisi par les Nations Unies pour rendre hommage aux pionnières de la technologie qui laissent une impression durable sur l'ensemble du pays et de la planète, qui font entendre les voix des groupes sous-représentés et qui ouvrent la voie à d'autres filles.
« Dans le monde entier, les filles sont moins susceptibles que les garçons de posséder et d'utiliser des appareils électroniques, ce qui limite leur accès aux compétences et aux emplois liés à la technologie. De plus, on observe cet écart entre les sexes ailleurs que dans l'espace numérique et sur le plan de la connectivité. Aujourd'hui, au Canada, les filles sont davantage sujettes à être victimes de cyberintimidation, de violence familiale et d'autres formes de violence que les garçons, ce qui entraîne des niveaux de santé mentale plus faibles. La pandémie de COVID-19 a exacerbé bon nombre de ces défis, parce que les jeunes Canadiens ont dû rester à la maison, se tenir à l’écart de leurs amis et s'adapter à l'apprentissage en ligne. À un âge crucial de leur vie, ils ont fait des sacrifices sans précédent pour assurer la sécurité des autres et de leur communauté.

“Today, whether virtually or in person, Canadians across the country will celebrate Thanksgiving with their loved ones and reflect on their blessings from the past year.
“Harvest season is a time for us to appreciate our communities. As many of us gather today to enjoy a good meal with family and friends, we acknowledge our farmers, food businesses, and food suppliers who work tirelessly to ensure that Canadians can safely and reliably put food on the table. Our food banks and local food organizations have also done an extraordinary job at helping Canadians across the country – particularly our most vulnerable people and communities – have access to good, high-quality, and nutritious food, despite the challenges of the past year and a half.
“Since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, Canadians of all backgrounds have shown countless acts of kindness. They have helped one another by donating to food banks, volunteering to assist the most vulnerable, and demonstrating what it means to love their neighbours. This year, I encourage everyone to show compassion to those in need and give back – that is the meaning of Thanksgiving. It is this spirit that makes Canada a stronger, more inclusive, and prosperous country.
“As we continue the fight against COVID-19, Thanksgiving provides us with an opportunity to give thanks to the front-line health care workers who have gone above and beyond to provide care and support to Canadians throughout this pandemic. We also salute the Canadian Armed Forces and the Canadian Red Cross for sending resources and help those in the areas hardest hit by this crisis.
“While Thanksgiving may look different again this year, we need to continue to follow local public health advice, including on gathering size limits, and practice public health measures like staying home when we’re sick, washing our hands, wearing our masks, and improving indoor ventilation. For those who have not already done so, I encourage you to get fully vaccinated as soon as possible to protect yourself and others, including those that are not yet eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine.

Alors que beaucoup d’entre nous se réunissent aujourd’hui pour déguster un bon repas en famille et entre amis, nous reconnaissons les efforts acharnés que déploient nos agriculteurs, nos entreprises agroalimentaires et nos fournisseurs de produits alimentaires pour offrir aux Canadiens un moyen sûr et fiable de mettre de la nourriture sur la table. The Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau, today issued the following statement on Canadian economist Dr. David Card being awarded the 2021 Nobel Prize in Economic Sciences:
“Today, I join Canadians and the international economic community in congratulating Dr. David Card on being awarded this year’s Sveriges Riksbank Prize in Economic Sciences in Memory of Alfred Nobel, also known as the Nobel Prize in Economic Sciences, for his important contributions to labour economics.
“Born in Guelph, Ontario, Dr. Card completed his undergraduate studies at Queen's University and obtained his PhD at Princeton University. He is currently a Professor of Economics at the University of California, Berkeley, where his research focuses on immigration, inequality, and gender and race in the labour market.
“Dr. Card is being recognized for his pioneering work on minimum wages, immigration, and education, which have considerably improved our understanding of the labour market over the last few decades. His recent work studied the effects of increasing the minimum wage on employment and challenged conventional wisdom.
“Dr. Card was awarded one half of the 2021 Nobel Prize in Economic Sciences, with the other half going jointly to Dr. Joshua D. Angrist and Dr. Guido W. Imbens. Together, they were recognized for using natural experiments to help answer key questions for society and revolutionizing research in economic sciences.
“On behalf of all Canadians, I congratulate Dr. Card for this remarkable achievement, and thank him for helping us to better understand the economy, as we work to build a strong economic recovery that benefits everyone for a better future at home and around the world.”

David Card qui a reçu le prix de la Banque de Suède en sciences économiques en mémoire d'Alfred Nobel de cette année, également appelé le prix Nobel en sciences économiques, pour ses importantes contributions à l'économique du travail.
« Né à Guelph, en Ontario, M. Card a fait ses études de premier cycle à la Queen's University et a obtenu son doctorat à la Princeton University. U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services has received enough petitions to reach the congressionally mandated cap on H-2B visas for temporary nonagricultural workers for the first half of fiscal year 2022. Sept. 30 was the final receipt date for new cap-subject H-2B worker petitions requesting an employment start date before April 1, 2022. USCIS will reject new cap-subject H-2B petitions received after Sept. 30 that request an employment start date before April 1, 2022.
USCIS continues to accept H-2B petitions that are exempt from the congressionally mandated cap. This includes petitions for:
Current H-2B workers in the United States who extend their stay, change employers, or change the terms and conditions of their employment;
Fish roe processors, fish roe technicians, and/or supervisors of fish roe processing; and
Workers performing labor or services in the Commonwealth of Northern Mariana Islands and/or Guam from Nov. 28, 2009, until Dec. 31, 2029.
U.S. businesses use the H-2B program to employ foreign workers for temporary nonagricultural jobs. Currently, Congress has set the H-2B cap at 66,000 per fiscal year, with 33,000 for workers who begin employment in the first half of the fiscal year (Oct. 1 - March 31) and 33,000 (plus any unused numbers from the first half of the fiscal year) for workers who begin employment in the second half of the fiscal year (April 1 - Sept. 30).

Tι ήταν η ΕΦΗΜΕΡΙΔΑ «ΠΟΛΙΤΙΚΗ»..για όσους δεν γνωρίζουν.
Η «ΠΟΛΙΤΙΚΗ» γεννήθηκε το 2000,ως συνέχεια του Περιοδικού «ΑΧΑΡΝΕΩΝ Έργα». Δημιουργήθηκε από Επαγγελματίες Εκδότες με δεκαετίες στον τομέα της Διαφήμισης, των Εκδόσεων και των Δημοσίων Σχέσεων και αρχικά ήταν μια Υπερτοπική Εφημερίδα με κύριο αντικείμενο το Αυτοδιοικητικό Ρεπορτάζ.
Επί χρόνια, κυκλοφορούσε την έντυπη έκδοσή της σε ένα ικανότατο τιράζ (5000 καλαίσθητων φύλλων εβδομαδιαίως) και εντυπωσίαζε με την ποιότητα της εμφάνισης και το ουσιώδες, μαχητικό και έντιμο περιεχόμενο της.
Η δύναμη της Πένας της Εφημερίδας, η Ειλικρίνεια, οι Ερευνές της που έφερναν πάντα ουσιαστικό αποτέλεσμα ενημέρωσης, την έφεραν πολύ γρήγορα πρώτη στην προτίμηση των αναγνωστών και γρήγορα εξελίχθηκε σε Εφημερίδα Γνώμης και όχι μόνον για την Περιφέρεια στην οποία κυκλοφορούσε.
=Επι είκοσι έξι (26) χρόνια, στηρίζει τον Απόδημο Ελληνισμό, χωρίς καμία-ούτε την παραμικρή- διακοπή

=Επί είκοσι έξι ολόκληρα χρόνια, προβάλλει με αίσθηση καθήκοντος κάθε ξεχωριστό, έντιμο και υπεύθυνο Πολιτικό της Πολιτικής Σκηνής. Στις σελίδες της, θα βρείτε ακόμα και σήμερα μόνο άξιες και χρήσιμες Πολιτικές Προσωπικότητες αλλά και ενημέρωση από κάθε Κόμμα της Ελληνικής Βουλής. Η «ΠΟΛΙΤΙΚΗ» ουδέποτε διαχώρησε τους αναγνώστες της ανάλογα με τα πολιτικά τους πιστεύω. Επραττε το καθήκον της, ενημερώνοντας όλους τους Ελληνες, ως όφειλε.
=Επί είκοσι έξι ολόκληρα χρόνια, δίνει βήμα στους αδέσμευτους, τους επιτυχημένους, τους γνώστες και θιασώτες της Αλήθειας. Στηρίζει τον Θεσμό της Ελληνικής Οικογένειας, την Παιδεία, την Ελληνική Ιστορία, προβάλλει με όλες της τις δυνάμεις τους Αδελφούς μας απανταχού της Γης, ενημερώνει για τα επιτεύγματα της Επιστήμης, της Επιχειρηματικότητας και πολλά άλλα που πολύ καλά γνωρίζουν οι Αναγνώστες της.
=Επί είκοσι έξι ολόκληρα χρόνια, ο απλός δημότης–πολίτης, φιλοξενείται στις σελίδες της με μόνη προϋπόθεση την ειλικρινή και αντικειμενική γραφή και την ελεύθερη Γνώμη, η οποία ΟΥΔΕΠΟΤΕ λογοκρίθηκε.
Η ΕΦΗΜΕΡΙΔΑ «ΠΟΛΙΤΙΚΗ», είναι ένα βήμα Ισονομίας και Ισοπολιτείας, έννοιες απόλυτα επιθυμητές, ιδιαιτέρως στις ημέρες μας. Είναι ο δικτυακός τόπος της έκφρασης του πολίτη και της εποικοδομητικής κριτικής, μακριά από κάθε στήριξη αφού ΟΥΔΕΠΟΤΕ ετύγχανε οικονομικής υποστήριξης από Δήμους, Κυβερνήσεις ή όποιους άλλους Δημόσιους ή Ιδιωτικούς Φορείς, δεν είχε ΠΟΤΕ χορηγούς, ή οποιασδήποτε μορφής υποστηρικτές. Απολαμβάνει όμως Διεθνούς σεβασμού αφού φιλοξενεί ενημέρωση από αρκετά ξένα Κράτη πράγμα που της περιποιεί βεβαίως, μέγιστη τιμή.
Η ΕΦΗΜΕΡΙΔΑ «ΠΟΛΙΤΙΚΗ» διαγράφει απο την γέννησή της μια αξιοζήλευτη πορεία και απέκτησε εξ αιτίας αυτού,ΜΕΓΙΣΤΗ αναγνωσιμότητα.
Η Εφημερίδα «ΠΟΛΙΤΙΚΗ» κέρδισε την αποδοχή και τον σεβασμό που της ανήκει, με «εξετάσεις» εικοσι έξι ολόκληρων ετών, με συνεχείς αιματηρούς αγώνες κατά της τοπικής διαπλοκής, με αγώνα επιβίωσης σε πολύ δύσκολους καιρούς, με Εντιμότητα, αίσθηση Καθήκοντος και Ευθύνης.
