Μια πρωτοχρονιάτικη σκέψη

 

Πολλοί εύχονται ενδόμυχα το 2021 να φέρει ως μέλλον το παρελθόν της «κανονικότητας». Να μοιάζει  περισσότερο με το 2019, παρά με τον πιθανό αυθεντικό εαυτό του που είναι, ακόμη και μετά το εμβόλιο, αβέβαιος. Μετέχουμε ούτως ή άλλως αναγκαστικά, σε μια πρωτοφανή άσκηση αναστοχασμού για τη σχέση μας με τον χρόνο, τη φύση, τη διακινδύνευση, την επιστήμη, τον εαυτό μας και τους άλλους.  Αυτή δεν είναι μια ανέμελη γιορτή. Την περνάμε μαζί με όσες και όσους υφίστανται ατομικά ή οικογενειακά  τη δοκιμασία. Μαζί με όσες και όσους  δίνουν την υγειονομική μάχη στην πρώτη γραμμή.
Υποδεχόμαστε όμως το έτος της μεγάλης εθνικής επετείου. Το έτος της μεγάλης παγκόσμιας, ευρωπαϊκής και εθνικής πρόκλησης να οργανωθεί μια νέα αφετηρία που θα αξιοποιεί τις σκληρές εμπειρίες της πανδημίας. Ευτυχώς, μέσα σε όλα αυτά, οι απλές και θεμελιώδεις ευχές για Υγεία και Καλή Χρονιά απόκτησαν νόημα.

The Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau, issued the following statement to mark the New Year:

“Tonight, across the country, Canadians will count down to midnight to welcome a new year, and reflect on the one that has passed.

“This year has been challenging for many of us. We have experienced a global pandemic that has threatened our health, our economy, and our very way of life. We have seen acts of senseless violence that have devastating impacts on our communities. And, we have heard heartbreaking stories and calls for justice from racialized Canadians and Indigenous peoples, demanding that we act now to address racism, discrimination, and injustices in our country.

“Through the mental, physical, and financial toll of these past 12 months, we have also seen Canadians show strength, resilience, and a willingness to work together. Communities have taken steps to support their most vulnerable, families and businesses have made sacrifices to keep others safe, and people from coast to coast to coast have fought for a better, fairer future for everyone. These actions should inspire us all as we move into the next year.

“In 2021, we will continue our fight against COVID-19 with a renewed sense of hope. Canadians have already started to receive doses of safe and effective vaccines. We have the most diverse vaccine portfolio of any country, and we continue to work with provinces and territories, and Indigenous communities and partners, to ensure that all Canadians will have free access to vaccines as soon as possible. We will also keep doing what it takes, for as long as it takes, to support people and businesses through the crisis.

AHEPA will always be committed to the principles that hold true to our Order's unique founding -- even in contemporary times. Καλή χρονιά με υγεία σε όλους! Μια χρονιά με δυσκολίες βγαλμένες από σενάριο επιστημονικής φαντασίας, φτάνει στο τέλος της. Μια χρονιά, που ανέτρεψε βεβαιότητες και ανέδειξε την αναγκαιότητα ενίσχυσης της διεθνούς συνεργασίας, αλλά και του κοινωνικού κράτους σε εθνικό επίπεδο.  Η πρωτοφανής υγειονομική κρίση που βιώνουμε είχε ολέθριες επιπτώσεις, καθώς εκατοντάδες χιλιάδες άνθρωποι έχασαν τη ζωή τους σε ολόκληρο τον πλανήτη με τραγικό τρόπο. Επιπλέον, επέφερε τη μεγαλύτερη οικονομική ύφεση μετά τον Β’ Παγκόσμιο Πόλεμο, αλλά και ένα πρωτόγνωρο περιορισμό ατομικών ελευθεριών σε κλίμακα και διάρκεια, εν καιρώ ειρήνης.  Σε αυτές, λοιπόν, τις τόσο διαφορετικές γιορτές, μακριά από τους αγαπημένους μας ανθρώπους, η αλληλεγγύη, η συλλογικότητα και η ατομική ευθύνη λαμβάνουν το πραγματικό τους νόημα. Η έλευση του 2021 με το ελπιδοφόρο μήνυμα που φέρνει η επιστήμη με την έναρξη των εμβολιασμών, ας αποτελέσει αφετηρία προόδου για την ανθρωπότητα, για να επιστρέψουμε στις χαρές της ζωής που μας στερεί αυτή η περιπέτεια.  Για τη νέα αυτή χρόνια, σας εύχομαι υγεία και κάθε επιτυχία στα σχέδιά σας.  #mazi θα βγούμε νικητές!
