The tastiest list of the year for food experiences lovers has finally been revealed! IGCAT’s Top 10 Websites for Foodie Travelers 2023 were awarded at a gala event held in Amiens, Hauts-de-France, European Region of Gastronomy awarded 2023 on 14 June.

The Top Websites for Foodie Travelers initiative acknowledges websites that offer unique, creative, cultural and gastronomic experiences in the World and European Regions of Gastronomy. These include, but are not limited to: food and wine tastings; farm or factory visits; cookery classes; craft-related experience; food and/or wine route; food and/or wine markets or fairs; museums/heritage sites related to food.

| PRESS RELEASE | Catalonia will be officially awarded the title of World Region of Gastronomy 2025 by IGCAT, thanks to their enduring effort to build collaborations across different sectors with the aim of safeguarding and promoting local food and cultural diversity.
|
After evaluating the bid book, Catalunya, the European Mosaic of Gastronomy, presented on 7 February 2023, a jury of international IGCAT experts visited the region (8-12 May 2023) to meet local stakeholders and assess Catalonia’s readiness to hold the World Region of Gastronomy title.
|
The jury was very impressed by how the legacy from Catalonia, European Region of Gastronomy 2016 has reinforced the benefits of inter-sectoral working to ensure that gastronomy, culture, food production and biodiversity have a strong focus in the region. They also appreciated the detailed action plan presented by the region including projects, events and development proposals for the title year and beyond, to ensure a legacy of the Award.

The international jury affirmed that “we witnessed exceptional creativity in the form of world-class food and wine experiences and were impressed by the passion and knowledge for and of local products. All the people the jury met, be they chefs, artists, volunteers, public servants, lecturers or entrepreneurs, have a shared commitment to Catalonia’s sustainable and ecological food future and we commend each and every person for their work and dedication.”

The announcement was made on 12 June 2023 at Palau Robert in Barcelona by Councillor for Business and Labour of the Government of Catalonia, Roger Torrent i Ramió and Director General of Food Industries, Food Quality and Gastronomy (Ministry of Climate Action, Food and Rural Agenda, Government of Catalonia) Carmel Mòdol i Bresolí, in the presence of some of the most renown chefs of Catalan cuisine and top representatives from the Catalan food sector.

The World Region of Gastronomy 2025 title “will help us highlight our food products, our cuisine and our destination,” claimed Torrent i Ramió who added that “our gastronomic heritage, together with innovation and talent, have made of Catalonia the place that offers the best food and drink products in the world.” |
Mòdol i Bressolí explained that “in the coming years we will have the opportunity to demonstrate that here we have excellent food producers and chefs, as we have shown to the international jury that visited us. It is precisely this combination that allowed us to achieve this recognition. Through this title, we will support even more our agrifood system and instill pride in our land: Catalonia, where food is culture.”

President of IGCAT, Diane Dodd PhD – who will formally award the title to Catalonia at an official ceremony to be held on 29 June 2023 – affirmed that IGCAT was impressed with the National Commitment to Responsible Tourism, the Food and Wine Tourism Plan (2022-27) and the Strategic Food Plan in Catalonia-PEAC (2021-26): “We think these strategic action plans will ensure the establishment of a very successful World Region of Gastronomy.” She also praised how different stakeholders from multiple sectors are committed together to protect Catalan food heritage and encourage unique visitor experiences.

Thanks to this title, the Catalan Government will invest 9 million euros to support a series of new initiatives and projects with the aim to position Catalonia as worldwide food and wine reference.

The Catalonia, World Region of Gastronomy 2025 candidacy and programme have been created by a cross-sectoral consortium including stakeholders from the public, private, third and knowledge sectors. Founding stakeholders include: Directorate-General for Tourism (Ministry of Business and Labour, Government of Catalonia); Catalan Tourist Board; Directorate-General for Food Industries, Food Quality and Gastronomy (Ministry of Climate Action, Food and Rural Agenda, Government of Catalonia); PRODECA; Catalan Academy of Gastronomy and Nutrition; Alícia Foundation; elBUlliFoundation.

After reviewing the bid book submitted on 31st January 2023, the jury visited the region, 8-12 May 2023. The aim of the visit was to assess the region’s appropriateness and readiness to host the title in 2025. The jury will prepare a comprehensive report with recommendations to support the region’s journey, and this will be delivered to IGCAT so that IGCAT Board can make the final decision. |

| PRESS RELEASEWorld Food Gift Challenge 2023 awards ten products in Kos | | | Unique stories and fine craftsmanship from across the World Regions of Gastronomy Platform took the international stage at IGCAT’s 4th World Food Gift Challenge. Hosted by South Aegean - European Region of Gastronomy since 2019, on the island of Kos, the competition awarded the ten best food gifts and craft gifts related to food for 2023, selected by an international jury of experts.

Held at Ktima Akrani on 27 April, the World Food Gift Challenge 2023 gathered 29 among the most outstanding food gifts and craft gifts related to food from eight awarded World/European Regions of Gastronomy including: Catalonia (awarded 2016); South Aegean (awarded 2019); Slovenia (awarded 2021); Menorca (awarded 2022); Trondheim-Trøndelag (awarded 2022); Hauts-de-France (awarded 2023); Saimaa (awarded 2024); and Aseer (awarded 2024).

When European Region of Gastronomy was first introduced, the Regional Council for Hauts-de-France quickly formed a consortium to spread the word across the region inviting restauranters, producers, artisans, teachers, destinations, and local people to take part in showcasing our great food. I am proud and happy to say that to date we have 162 ambassadors, 153 European Region of Gastronomy labelled projects and over 260 events programmed to celebrate our title this year and candidates just keep flooding in!

Participating in IGCAT competitions, events and seminars is a great way of testing our worth on a wider international scale and a wonderful way of getting to know and learning from the IGCAT network across the globe. As a result, in Hauts-de-France we are now generating or amplifying experiences and emotions, creating vocations and reinforcing the attractiveness of the hotel and restaurant industry. We are encouraging meetings and exchanges, educating people about healthy, well balanced, sustainable food, and accelerating the changes in the sector to meet new customer trends.

| PRESS RELEASE | Pau Sintes Juanico from Menorca, European Region of Gastronomy awarded 2022 has been announced today European Young Chef for 2022. With his dish Menorca-style Aubergines: Simple and Complex, he won the hearts of the international jury chaired by chef Espen Laumann, winner of the 2021 edition from the host region, Trondheim-Trøndelag, European Region of Gastronomy awarded 2022.
|
Pau presented a vegetarian dish based on aubergine, using all parts of the vegetable combined with local herbs from the Menorcan coast, such as maritime fennel and capers; egg yolks; Mahón-Menorca PDO cheese; and honey. Through this recipe he wanted to show that delicious vegetarian dishes can be made with local, traditional products. His plate was an innovation on the traditional Menorcan recipe Alberginies plenes (stuffed aubergines) or Barquetes d’alberginia (Aubergine little boats) that recall the maritime heritage of Menorca.
|
The jury especially appreciated the explosion of flavours and the incredibly innovative combination of colours and textures. They also appreciated Pau’s interest in reducing food waste, his care and attention to detail, for example using a locally crafted plate and knowledge of local plant varieties.

Sicily's application to become European Region of Gastronomy in 2025 represents an unmissable opportunity. The island's tremendous wine and food heritage will be rediscovered, appreciated and shared with local as well as international visitors. It will also help harmonise the vast offer of visitor experiences and activities and most of all, it will reduce local fragmentation by bringing together a wide range of stakeholders from different sectors to work on a common project, under a shared vision. |

Located in the heart of the Mediterranean Sea and full of impressive geophysical and natural resources, Sicily has been home to several diverse dominations throughout history. A place of hospitality and appreciation of differences, the island has been characterised by cultural, social and gastronomic integration. The shape, the culture and the culinary identity of each and every Sicilian village is a clear expression of this convergence and why Gaetano Basile, one of Sicily’s most renowned historians, wrote: “put Sicily on the table and you will leaf through the pages of history.”

Besides highlighting this extraordinary cultural heritage, Sicily’s candidacy has a number of strategic lines to support sustainable development: recovery of local culinary traditions; enhancement of local products; promotion of short value chains; visitor appreciation of the food and cultural resources; stimulation of climate-change-resilient agronomic approaches as well as; a more balanced and functional relationship between the environment and economic growth. Sustainability is not only necessary to preserve our natural environment, but essential to ensure the survival of local businesses and secure the wellbeing of the whole Mediterranean community. It is from this vision that we take inspiration for our European Region of Gastronomy candidacy project.

Η Εφημερίδα «ΠΟΛΙΤΙΚΗ 2000-2022» μετά από εικοσιδύο ολόκληρα χρόνια ΕΝΤΥΠΗΣ και ΗΛΕΚΤΡΟΝΙΚΗΣ έκδοσης, ολοκλήρωσε τον κύκλο της τον Δεκέμβριο 2022 οπότε και σταμάτησε την κυκλοφορία της για να μεταλλαχθεί σε THINK TANK BLOG.
Ευχαριστούμε από καρδιάς όσους μας αγάπησαν, μας τίμησαν με την απίστευτη αναγνωσιμότητά της, μας εμπιστεύθηκαν και ακόμα το κάνουν έως σήμερα.

Tι ήταν η ΕΦΗΜΕΡΙΔΑ «ΠΟΛΙΤΙΚΗ»..για όσους δεν γνωρίζουν.
Η «ΠΟΛΙΤΙΚΗ» γεννήθηκε το 2000,ως συνέχεια του Περιοδικού «ΑΧΑΡΝΕΩΝ Έργα». Δημιουργήθηκε από Επαγγελματίες Εκδότες με δεκαετίες στον τομέα της Διαφήμισης, των Εκδόσεων και των Δημοσίων Σχέσεων και αρχικά ήταν μια Υπερτοπική Εφημερίδα με κύριο αντικείμενο το Αυτοδιοικητικό Ρεπορτάζ.
Επί χρόνια, κυκλοφορούσε την έντυπη έκδοσή της σε ένα ικανότατο τιράζ (5000 καλαίσθητων φύλλων εβδομαδιαίως) και εντυπωσίαζε με την ποιότητα της εμφάνισης και το ουσιώδες, μαχητικό και έντιμο περιεχόμενο της.
Η δύναμη της Πένας της Εφημερίδας, η Ειλικρίνεια, οι Ερευνές της που έφερναν πάντα ουσιαστικό αποτέλεσμα ενημέρωσης, την έφεραν πολύ γρήγορα πρώτη στην προτίμηση των αναγνωστών και γρήγορα εξελίχθηκε σε Εφημερίδα Γνώμης και όχι μόνον για την Περιφέρεια στην οποία κυκλοφορούσε.
=Επι είκοσι δύο (22) χρόνια, στήριζε τον Απόδημο Ελληνισμό, χωρίς καμία-ούτε την παραμικρή- διακοπή
.
=Επί είκοσι δυο ολόκληρα χρόνια, προέβαλε με αίσθηση καθήκοντος κάθε ξεχωριστό, έντιμο και υπεύθυνο Πολιτικό τόσο της Τοπικής όσο και της Κεντρικής Πολιτικής Σκηνής. Στις σελίδες της, θα βρείτε ακόμα και σήμερα μόνο άξιες και χρήσιμες Πολιτικές Προσωπικότητες αλλά και ενημέρωση από κάθε Κόμμα της Ελληνικής Βουλής. Η «ΠΟΛΙΤΙΚΗ» ουδέποτε διαχώρησε τους αναγνώστες της ανάλογα με τα πολιτικά τους πιστεύω. Επραττε το καθήκον της, ενημερώνοντας όλους τους Ελληνες, ως όφειλε.
=Επί είκοσι δυο ολόκληρα χρόνια, έδινε βήμα στους αδέσμευτους, τους επιτυχημένους, τους γνώστες και θιασώτες της Αλήθειας. Στήριζε τον Θεσμό της Ελληνικής Οικογένειας, την Παιδεία, την Ελληνική Ιστορία, πρόβαλλε με όλες της τις δυνάμεις τους Αδελφούς μας απανταχού της Γης, ενημέρωνε για τα επιτεύγματα της Επιστήμης, της Επιχειρηματικότητας και πολλά άλλα που πολύ καλά γνωρίζουν οι Αναγνώστες της.
=Επί είκοσι δύο ολόκληρα χρόνια, ο απλός δημότης–πολίτης, φιλοξενήθηκε στις σελίδες της με μόνη προϋπόθεση την ειλικρινή και αντικειμενική γραφή και την ελεύθερη Γνώμη, η οποία ΟΥΔΕΠΟΤΕ λογοκρίθηκε.
Η ΕΦΗΜΕΡΙΔΑ «ΠΟΛΙΤΙΚΗ», στην διακοπείσα πλέον ηλεκτρονική έκδοσή της, ήταν ένα βήμα Ισονομίας και Ισοπολιτείας, έννοιες απόλυτα επιθυμητές, ιδιαιτέρως στις ημέρες μας. Υπήρξε ο δικτυακός τόπος της έκφρασης του πολίτη και της εποικοδομητικής κριτικής, μακριά από κάθε στήριξη αφού δεν ετύγχανε οικονομικής υποστήριξης από Δήμους, Κυβερνήσεις ή όποιους άλλους Δημόσιους ή Ιδιωτικούς Φορείς, δεν είχε ΠΟΤΕ χορηγούς, ή οποιασδήποτε μορφής υποστηρικτές. Απολάμβανε όμως του Διεθνούς σεβασμού αφού φιλοξενούσε ενημέρωση από αρκετά ξένα Κράτη-κάτι που συνεχίζεται και σήμερα- πράγμα που της περιποιεί βεβαίως, μέγιστη τιμή.
Η ΕΦΗΜΕΡΙΔΑ «ΠΟΛΙΤΙΚΗ» διέγραψε μια αξιοζήλευτη πορεία και απέκτησε ΜΕΓΙΣΤΗ αναγνωσιμότητα (που συνεχίζεται ως σήμερα).
Η Εφημερίδα «ΠΟΛΙΤΙΚΗ» διεκδίκησε και κέρδισε την αποδοχή και τον σεβασμό που της ανήκε, με «εξετάσεις» εικοσιδύο ολόκληρων ετών, με συνεχείς αιματηρούς αγώνες κατά της τοπικής διαπλοκής, με αγώνα επιβίωσης σε πολύ δύσκολους καιρούς, με Εντιμότητα, αίσθηση Καθήκοντος και Ευθύνης.
