E-commerce work programme focuses on bridging the digital divide
At a meeting on the Work Programme on E-commerce on 28 January 2025, members exchanged views on what is needed to bridge the digital divide across the WTO membership, focusing in particular on digital infrastructure, connectivity and internet access. Members also reflected on the role of the WTO in facilitating progress in this area and shared information on national initiatives aimed at improving conditions for e-commerce.

 Santiago Peña Palacios, the President of Paraguay, will deliver the WTO Presidential Lecture on Friday, 31 January 2025 at 10am Geneva time at the WTO. The topic is “Sustaining Multilateralism in Uncertain Times: The Role of Middle Powers”. It will be the sixth lecture to be delivered in the WTO's Presidential Lecture Series.

For journalists wishing to attend in person:  The Lecture will take place in the Council Room (CR) of the WTO. Journalists may enter the WTO building with their UN or WTO press badges.  Journalists without a UN or WTO badge should inform the WTO press team in advance at mediateam@wto.org of their intention to attend.
