Even today, Carlos Santos is one of the few Portuguese companies in the area to apply the Goodyear Welted system, a manual technique in which machines play a secondary role. ­ Read more ­ ­ Sons of a Cobbler  ­ Born in 1954, The COBBLER started his shoe making history by the influence of his father, working at his own factory, by the age of 10. Camilo was obsessed in making great shoes so much that he would ride his bicycle up the hill for several kilometers, every single day for more than 15 years to join his small team in the factory. ­ Artur Pinho ­ Artur Pinho, the son of shoemakers, started to help the masters making the shoes as a child.  He learnt the art and respect for the job, dealing with how to handle the leather or the accuracy demanded by manual operations to obtain high quality patterns.
