| Speaking at a virtual debate on reducing harmful fisheries subsidies on 2 April, WTO Deputy Director-General Angela Ellard underlined the urgent need for the WTO Agreement on Fisheries Subsidies to enter into force ahead of the UN Ocean Conference in June. The debate was organized by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), the WTO and the UN Ocean Conference. |

| On 30th anniversary, officials highlight importance of WTO work on rules of origin |
| WTO members, observer organizations and the WTO Secretariat marked the 30th anniversary of the Agreement on Rules of Origin on 4 April by highlighting the importance of the Committee in ensuring transparency and certainty in global trade. Growing challenges such as the complexity and diversity in rules of origin, digital trade and artificial intelligence, as well as continued work on preferential rules of origin for least developed countries (LDCs), make the work of the WTO’s Committee on Rules of Origin (CRO) more relevant than ever, they said. |
