Shaping the future of young journalists
n partnership with the School of Journalism in Utrecht six students are carrying out a project within their academic journey. They are researching new ways to support and engage with young journalists, which will help create improved opportunities, resources, and programmes.
To get better insights into what the needs of young journalists actually are, they are inviting young journalists between 20-27 years old to fill out a short 5-minute survey.

The deadline for applications to both calls is on 10 March at 23:59 CET.
• Investigation Support Scheme : Grants of up to €50,000 to allow journalistic teams of any type, including newsrooms and specialist investigative outlets, to team up across frontiers on ambitious projects.
• Freelancer Support Scheme : Grants of up to €20,000 to cross-border investigative teams made up predominantly of freelance journalists.

EJC recommended: FRONTIERS Science Journalism Residency Programme
The FRONTIERS initiative aims to empower science journalists in bridging the gap between complex scientific discoveries and public understanding.
The third round of the Science Journalism Residency Programme is now open for applications exclusively for early-career journalists (with up to five years’ experience), offering up to ten fellowships.
Deadline: 6 May 2025 (17:00 CEST)

Submit your investigation for a total prize pool of €15,000
The Impact Award returns for its fourth edition, celebrating the finest cross-border investigative journalism stories that have made a significant impact in the European landscape.
The Award recognises cross-border investigations published in any credible format, including print, online, TV, radio, documentary, or multimedia.
Whether your work uncovered corruption, exposed injustice, or revealed hidden truths, submit your nomination and gain recognition for your impact.
3 winning projects.
€15,000 total prize (€5,000 per winner).
For investigations published between 1 January – 31 December 2024.
Cross-border collaborations involving journalists from at least two European countries.
The winners will be announced at the IJ4EU UNCOVERED Conference in September 2025.
Submit your nomination before 27 April, 2025 at 23:59 CET.
