Brothers:

It has come to our attention that a good number of you have been on the receiving end of emails from an account claiming to be the Supreme President requesting that you send him gift cards or send him funds to get him out of a sticky situation.

These emails are NOT from the Supreme President. Please delete them immediately and do not respond or engage with the person who sent them. Do not, under any circumstances, send any money or gift cards.

The Supreme President or any representative of AHEPA, be it an elected official or a staff member, will never email you requesting money or funds for their personal benefit. If you receive any emails like this, please immediately contact AHEPA Global Headquarters at 202.232.6300.

Our cyber security software cannot catch 100% of every scam or phishing email. We need you to be vigilant and note, you are the last line of defense in protecting yourself from these types of scams.

We have compiled some tips below to help you avoid falling victim to email phishing scams in the future.

Cybersecurity Awareness

  • Always verify the authenticity of emails and attachments before opening them.
  • Pay attention to the actual email address and whom the email is originating from. It may SAY it's from somebody you know, but if you hover over the name with your mouse, the address could be a completely different address.
  • Use strong, unique passwords for all your accounts.
  • Be aware of these signs of suspicious emails:
  • Unexpected requests for personal or financial information.
  • Spelling and grammatical errors.
  • Unknown sender addresses.
  • Urgent or threatening language urging immediate action.
  • Don’t click on links from unknown sources.
  • Hover over links to check their actual destination.
  • Avoid downloading files from untrusted sources.
  • Be skeptical of too-good-to-be-true offers.
  • Keep your security software updated to protect against vulnerabilities.

Stay vigilant!
