As we step into the new year with renewed energy, we’re excited to share some key updates and opportunities within the European Youth Press community!

In February, we will host an Extraordinary General Assembly (EGA) to discuss important matters for the future of our organisation. While the exact date is yet to be confirmed, we need your input to finalise it.

Extraordinary General Assembly in February – Choose Your Availability

The European Youth Press will host an Extraordinary General Assembly (EGA) this February. While we do not have an exact date yet, we aim to finalize it based on your availability.

We kindly ask the contact person of your Member Organisation (MO) to mark their availability in this Doodle linkThe deadline to submit your availability is January 15.

Please ensure that the person marking the Doodle is the one who will attend the EGA on behalf of your MO.

We will announce the confirmed date shortly after the deadline.

Additionally, we encourage you to share this information in your networks. The link to the Doodle will also be shared in our WhatsApp group for MOs.

We are looking for a new Treasurer!

Are you passionate about financial management and eager to contribute to the growth of young journalists across Europe? The European Youth Press is seeking a Treasurer to join our team!

Role Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and manage the organisation’s finances.
  • Prepare and present financial reports to the board.
  • Ensure compliance with financial regulations and budgeting processes.

Introducing the New European Youth Press Board!

We are thrilled to announce the new members of the European Youth Press Board, elected during the General Assembly held in Brussels at the beginning of November. These talented and committed individuals will guide our organization in the coming years, constantly striving to innovate and enhance our impact.

The new Board meets monthly to address strategic matters, make key decisions, and oversee projects that amplify the voices of young journalists across Europe. Their work is vital to ensuring that we continue to grow as an inclusive and representative platform, connecting our network of over 60,000 members.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to each new Board member for their dedication and efforts to improve the quality and development of the European Youth Press. With their leadership, we are confident that we will continue to promote the values of democracy, independent media, and youth engagement across the European Union.

Welcome to the team, and here’s to a new chapter filled with inspiring achievements and the empowerment of young journalism!

Toyah Höeher

Toyah Höeher started her role as an executive board member of the European Youth Press in November 2024. Her work with NGOs has encompassed the fields of journalism, human rights, and the environment. She is based in Berlin, Germany and also writes and edits for EYP’s Member Organization Europe & Me. She holds a BSc in Politics, Psychology, Law, and Economics and an LLM in European Union Law from the University of Amsterdam.

Marcial F Parrilla

Computer engineer and AWS Solutions Architect. Experience in designing, developing, and maintaining web applications and user interfaces. Ability to work across the entire development lifecycle, from UI/UX design to deployment and integration with CI/CD pipelines.Volunteer in Prensa Juvenil Canaria since 2014 and participant in multiple organisations and projects related to youth and participation. Technical secretary of Prensa Juvenil Canaria. Participated with the Spanish Youth Council as Structured dialogue ambassador.Creator of radio shows, podcasts and documentaries such as "Tiagua Madre Tierra" documentary. Coordinator of "After School" project, which is carried out under the need to provide a cultural, sports and educational offer to the young people of the island of Lanzarote after the end of the school period.

Pedro Coelho

24-year-old content creator and press officer based in Porto, Portugal. Pedro works at an interior design studio, combining his passion for storytelling with the world of interior design.In addition to his professional role, he volunteers with AEQUALITAS, a Portuguese NGO dedicated to fostering a more just and sustainable world, where he contributes to journalism and media creation initiatives.Enthusiastic about creativity, travelling, and media, Pedro enjoys exploring interior design trends and bringing stories to life.
