Norway increases medical assistance to Ukraine

State budget for 2025: Bolstering investment in women’s health

To date, the Norwegian government has bolstered investment in targeted women’s health initiatives to the tune of around NOK 150 million. In the proposed state budget for 2025, the government is suggesting a further NOK 13 million to follow up on the new women’s health strategy.

New Norwegian-German initiative to strengthen critical undersea infrastructure in Europe

On October 17th at the meeting of NATO Ministers of Defence in Brussels, Norway’s Minister of Defence Bjørn Arild Gram met his German counterpart Boris Pistorius for a bilateral meeting. They also signed a statement on a proposal to further strengthen NATO’s role in the protection of critical undersea infrastructure across vast maritime areas in NATO’s area of responsibility. These oceans are covered with undersea infrastructure ensuring the safe delivery of energy and communication.

State budget for 2025: Norwegian government boosting hospital finances: waiting times to be slashed

In the state budget for 2025, the Norwegian government is proposing to increase operating allocations for hospitals by NOK 5.5 billion compared to the balanced budget for 2024. You would have to go back to 2008 to find the closest comparable increase in an ordinary hospital budget. The proposal will ensure that hospitals receive an allocation to cover the actual increase in costs as a result of demographic changes and will help to slash waiting times to levels not seen since before the pandemic.
