Inspired by our upcoming exhibition Art/Wear: Sneakers x Artists, join us on Thursday, October 17 at 6:30 pm for an enlightening panel discussion that delves into the multifaceted world of art and its profound impact on fashion. This engaging event will explore essential questions such as: What is art? Why do we collect it? And how do we perceive art in the realm of fashion? Whether you are an art aficionado, a fashion enthusiast, or simply curious about the dialogue between these two worlds, this panel talk promises to inspire and inform.

Our panel will feature our Director and Senior Curator Elizabeth Semmelhack, Deputy Director & Chief Curator of the Art Gallery of Ontario (AGO) Julian Cox, Creative Director, Curator, and founder of D.PE Agency Ashley McKenzie-Barnes, and Co-founder of Makeway, Canada’s pioneering sneaker boutique for women Abby Albino. Innocence Canada Panel Talk

Inspired by our current exhibition, Exhibit A: Investigating Crime and Footwear and in honour of the 10th Anniversary of International Wrongful Conviction Day (Oct 2) join the Bata Shoe Museum and Innocence Canada for an honest, and impactful look at wrongful convictions in Canada on Sunday, October 20 at 2:00 pm. This panel talk will look at wrongful convictions through the experiences of those who have lived through it, and those who have made a significant impact through their efforts to help clear the names of the victims of wrongful incarceration.
