Sustainability Report 2023

The EBRD’s Sustainability Report for 2023 looks at a year in which the Bank continued to deliver on the sustainability goals set by our shareholders, against a backdrop of alarming geopolitical tension, inflationary pressures and environmental challenges.

Our investments in the green economy reached a record level of €6.5 billion in 2023, a result that the EBRD could not have achieved without the collaboration of our clients, shareholders, donors, co-financers and civil-society organisations.

We also made significant progress on promoting economic inclusion, with our share of “gender SMART” projects increasing to 44 per cent.

GRI Report 2023 - Sustainability Disclosures

The GRI Report 2023 - Sustainability Disclosures provides our stakeholders with a comprehensive overview of the EBRD's approach to environmental, social and governance issues.

The contents of this report were guided by consultation with stakeholders and staff to assess what information they deemed material. The 2023 edition also covers topics that are not widely considered material, but which give a fuller picture of our approach to sustainability.

More information on the environmental and social impact of the Bank’s investment and policy engagement activities this year is provided in this year’s Sustainability Report 2023.
