Photo Credit: BRIDGE-U: Liberia BRIDGE-U: Liberia Certifies 24 Aspiring Health Entrepreneurs After a three-month period of mentorship, training, and coaching, the Health Entrepreneurship Advancement Leveraging Research (HEALR) program certified 24 aspiring health entrepreneurs as part of the BRIDGE-U: Liberia program. These graduates successfully completed the HEARL Ideation Course Cohort 2, a program designed to equip young entrepreneurs with the skills necessary to address Liberia's healthcare challenges. Photo Credit: Janine Sazinsky ASPIRE’s First Creative Capacity Building Training In February 2024, the Achieving Sustainable Partnerships for Innovation, Research, and Entrepreneurship (ASPIRE) program held its first Creative Capacity Building (CCB) training in San Juan La Laguna on Lake Atitlan in Guatemala. Developed by the MIT D-Lab, the CCB workshop taught participants how to work together and co-create low-cost solutions to local problems with local resources. Photo Credit: Lina Stankute-Alexander Partnerships for Enhanced Engagement in Research (PEER) LAC Workshop From March 18th to 20th, approximately 30 researchers funded by USAID’s Partnerships for Enhanced Engagement in Research (PEER) program, who work on environmental issues in the Latin America and Caribbean region, along with some of their U.S. partners, convened in Bogota, Colombia. The workshop aimed to facilitate meetings, share research findings, and plan a path forward from research to actionable outcomes. PEER is an international grants program that funds scientists and engineers in USAID partner countries collaborating with U.S. government-funded researchers to address global development challenges. With the PEER program set to close in July 2024, this workshop celebrated the research partnerships cultivated in the region since PEER’s launch in 2011. 
Photo Credit: Andrew Meaux, Center for Education, USAID USAID’s 2024 Global Education Conference During the week of April 15, 2024, USAID hosted its first USAID Global Education Conference in half a decade. Throughout the week-long conference, USAID’s Research Division within the Innovation, Technology and Research Hub, along with its partners, participated in a number of sessions. This included a plenary session on the importance of partnering with higher education institutions (with particular interest in Minority Serving Institutions (MSIs)) for impactful success. LASER presented their efforts on engaging with MSIs. BRIDGE partners highlighted their endeavors on promoting youth engagement and leadership in their activities to build diverse and inclusive partnership by integrating principles of diversity, equity, inclusion and accessibility (DEIA) into education programming and policy efforts.
