Earlier this week, we asked you to share your stories of how sports have impacted your life or community. So many of you shared stories of dedication, connection, belonging, and resilience, illustrating the value sports can have in empowering individuals of all ages to reach their full potential.

Today, we hope to inspire you with a few of our favorite stories from your community of Obama Foundation supporters:

Growing up in inner-city Detroit in the 1990s, sports was one of the few ways to keep me and my sibling off the streets and out of trouble. It was an outlet to learn things like teamwork, hard work, commitment. –Jeremy, Sports has allowed [my child] to form and maintain relationships with friends of different nationalities, races, and beliefs, and create goals to achieve, all while having fun and celebrating his accomplishments! –La Shundrea, Sports changed my mindset. It allowed me a space to believe in myself and what is possible if I put in the work, time, and effort. These attributes transfer to all areas of life. –Ray, I grew up in Englewood,
where the Ogden Park basketball court was more than just a place to play; it was where I learned confidence and formed lifelong friendships. Sport is not just a pastime; it is life itself. –Jim
