Korea gives CHF 260,000 to bolster developing countries’ trade expertise
The Republic of Korea has contributed KRW 390 million (CHF 260,000) to the Global Trust Fund to finance capacity-building programmes in 2024, with the objective of helping developing economies participate more effectively in global trade. A significant proportion of this contribution is allocated to the WTO Chairs Programme, an initiative aimed at supporting trade-related academic activities in developing economies and least-developed countries (LDCs). The Programme currently comprises 36 universities across the world.

Applications now open for WTO Training Course on Trade and Gender
The WTO will hold an in-person training course on trade and gender for Spanish-speaking government officials from 15 to 18 April 2024 at its headquarters in Geneva. The course aims to enhance government officials’ knowledge on trade and gender and to help them integrate gender considerations in their work and develop gender-responsive trade policies. It supports the work of the Informal Working Group on Trade and Gender on seeking to increase women’s participation in global trade. The deadline to submit applications is 28 February 2024.

Norway boosts global trade and food safety with NOK 16 million contribution to the STDF
Norway is contributing NOK 16 million (approximately CHF 1.3 million) to the Standards and Trade Development Facility (STDF) to help developing economies and least-developed countries (LDCs) meet international sanitary and phytosanitary (SPS) standards, facilitating their access to global markets.

A new edition of the “WTO Ministerial Conferences: Key Outcomes” publication is now available. This updated version contains all the key outcomes from WTO Ministerial Conferences since the organization was established in 1995, including for the first time the outcomes of the 12th Ministerial Conference (MC12) held in Geneva in 2022.
