ISIL/Da'esh and Al-Qaeda: EU restrictive measures prolonged for an additional year

The Council adopted today a decision prolonging existing restrictive measures against ISIL/Da'esh, Al-Qaeda and natural and legal persons, groups, undertakings and entities associated with them for a further year, until 31 October 2024.

Currently, the sanction regime in place applies to 14 persons and 5 groups. Those targeted are subject to an asset freeze and a travel ban to the EU. Additionally, EU persons and entities are forbidden from making funds, financial assets or economic resources available to those listed under the sanction regime.

These autonomous restrictive measures are complementary to those imposed by the UN Security Council against ISIL/Da’esh and Al-Qaeda.

The EU remains committed to acting against those who threaten international peace and security by planning, financing, and executing terrorist attacks and by spreading terrorist propaganda globally.

The decision will enter into force on the day following its publication in the Official Journal of the European Union.
