- IT spot milk price continues rising, now at 53.8 c/kg (15/10/2023);
- Feed costs decreased by -1.7% and energy costs by -2.2% in week 41 compared to the previous 4 weeks;
- Oceania is now more price competitive on butter, SMP and WMP, while USA is more competitive on cheddar;
- EU cow’s milk collection increased by +0.1% in August and +0.7 % in Jan-Aug 2023
- EU Production of dairy products in Jan-Aug 2023 compared to 2022: increase for concentrated milk (+6.3%), cream (+3.3%), butter (+2.4%), WMP (+1.7%), cheese (+1.8%), fermented milk (+1.0%) and drinking milk (+0.6%); decrease for SMP (-1.3%);
- In August 2023, AU milk productions went up by +0.8% and in UK by +0.7%, while NZ milk production decreased by -2.1% and in USA by -0.2% compared to the same period last year;
- In January-July 2023, EU butter exports decreased to the UK by (-22%) while increased to China by (+16%) and to the USA (+9%);
- In Jan.-July 2023, EU SMP exports to Algeria were up (+98%) and down to Indonesia (-52%). EU WMP exports to Oman were down (-15%) and China (-32%) and up to the UK (+18%);
- In the first 7 months of 2023, EU cheese exports to Japan decreased by 10% and to the USA by -8%;
- US dairy exports decreased for butter(oil) (-45%), cheese (-6%), SMP (-1%) and WMP (-35% );
- In January-July 2023, EU exports increased for SMP and WMP by (+23% and +15%) respectively; NZ exports for the same period were up for cheese and SMP (+19% and +36%);
- Chinese imports went up for cheese (+18%), SMP(+20%), wheypowder (+26), caseins (+14%) and lactose (+37%) in Jan.-July while went down for Butter(oil) (-14%), WMP (-40%) and condensed (-34%),
- GDT last auction (17/10/2023): general price index +4.3%, with price increases for AMF (+7.1%), butter (+2.9%), cheese (+0.2%), lactose (+0.2%), SMP (+4.3%) and WMP (+4.2%).
