Defence spending: sustaining the effort in the long-term

The issue of the appropriate level of defence spending for each NATO Ally is as old as NATO itself. It touches upon two core debates for the Allies. First, as NATO’s mission is to ensure the security of the Euro-Atlantic area, defence spending supports the ability of Allies to preserve peace and to deter all threats, at all times.

Secretary General at European Council: NATO-EU cooperation is key to supporting Ukraine

NATO Secretary General is taking part in the European Council on Thursday (29 June 2023), at the invitation of European Council President Charles Michel. The Secretary General praised the partnership between NATO and the European Union, which has reached unprecedented levels. He described it as key for continued support to Ukraine and in responding to other critical challenges.

Media briefing with senior NATO military officials

On Monday 03 July 2023, the Chair of the NATO Military Committee, Admiral Rob Bauer, and the SHAPE Deputy Chief of Staff Operations, Major General Matthew Van Wagenen, will give a media briefing at NATO Headquarters. The briefing will be on the record, and will focus on the integration of NATO and national military planning in a new era of collective defence.
