OBAMA's latest

The six pride colors in the rising sun obama.org logo.
Hi there,

This Pride Month, celebrating the accomplishments of the LGBTQ+ rights movement isn’t enough.

Lawmakers and anti-LGBTQ+ groups nationwide are targeting the community, and from book bans to attacks on transgender youth, young people are experiencing some of the worst of the discrimination.

Everyone across the country and around the world deserves to live in safe environments where they’re accepted for who they are. At the Obama Foundation, we believe that change starts with everyday people taking action, so it’s on all of us to get involved.

Here are just a few ways you can support LGBTQ+ youth this month, and every month:

A graphic that reads as follows: Support LGBTQ+ Youth This month and every month. Educate yourself: Read a book, watch a show, or pick up a movie created by a member of the LGBTQ+ community to learn more about their life experiences Support safe spaces: Volunteer your time with LGBTQ+ organizations, whether it’s a nonprofit in your community or virtually with an organization like the Trevor Project Be open and show your support: Allow the young people in your life to come out in their own time. You can show your support by participating in Pride Month activities, going to rallies, or even attending a drag show. Vote: Elected officials have a major
impact on how communities across the country help fuel inclusive change—so make sure your voice is heard and counted at the ballot box.

Whether you’re a member of the LGBTQ+ community or an ally, we’d love to hear how you’re recognizing Pride Month and supporting our youth.

Recommend a book, share where you’re volunteering, or tell us about a great organization you like to donate to.
