Our next Salon

Wednesday, March 22 at 7pm EST

Join us for a fascinating conversation with Kimberly Jenkins, named one of the "top sustainability thought leaders changing the world of fashion", and founder of The Fashion and Race Database and Artis Solomon Consulting. Kimberly will share insights on the impact of our clothes and how what we choose to wear expresses our politics, race, psychology and anthropology. She will talk about recent projects, including her podcast The Invisible Seam, as well as Rainbow Shoe Repair: An Unexpected Theater of Flyness, an exhibition presented at the Abrons Arts Center. The conversation will be followed by a Q&A with BSM Director & Senior Curator, Elizabeth Semmelhack.

Shop Highlight

Designed by Odawa-Pottawatomi Artist James Jacko, this Medicine Wheel hip hack features the Turtle, which is sacred in the Indigenous culture. It carries the four colours of the medicine wheel, symbolizing important elements and can be different depending on the tribe. The seven circles represent the seven teachings of our people, and inside each circle is a bird that delivers the message of the creator. Available in our Museum shop and online.
