OBAMA's update

A black and white obama.org logo
Hi there,

As President Obama has said, if we want democracy around the world to flourish, we will have to fight for it and nurture it.

That’s why I am thrilled to announce the incredible lineup of discussions and speakers we’ll be hosting at the first-ever Obama Foundation Democracy Forum on November 17, in partnership with Columbia University and the University of Chicago.

A graphic at the top reads, “Obama Foundation Democracy Forum'' below it a graphic features the headshots of the five Obama Foundation Democracy Forum speakers: Jelani Cobb, dean of the Columbia Journalism School, Leni Robredo, 14th Vice President of the Philippines, Nikole Hannah-Jones, investigative reporter for The New York Times, Peggy Shepard, co-founder and executive director of WE ACT for Environmental Justice, and Reńee DiResta, technical research manager at Stanford Internet Observatory. All speakers are a range of medium and deep skin tones. The graphic reads, “Hear from speakers including” and “See the full speaker line up at
Obama.org.” The background is a gradient of blue, yellow, and green. At the bottom of the graphic a white rectangular button reads, “Tune in live on November 17”.
The Democracy Forum will bring together hundreds of Obama Foundation program participants with leading experts and practitioners to discuss how we can all work towards strengthening and expanding democracy across the globe.

The event will be livestreamed on Thursday, November 17 at Obama.org starting at 12:30pm ET. President Obama will close out the day with remarks and join Obama Foundation Leaders in conversation at 5pm ET.

Check out the full speaker line up and livestream schedule at Obama.org.

As we bring together leaders and experts, I hope you also recognize the critical role each one of us can play. For democracy to flourish, we must all do our part. And I hope you’ll join us on Obama.org.
